The most successful manager in UEFA Champions League history, we look back at Carlo Ancelotti's record in Europe's elite club competition.

Carlo Ancelotti is one of only six managers to win the UEFA Champions League with two different clubs: Milan (2002/03, 2006/07) and Real Madrid (2013/14, 2021/22, 2023/24).

Ancelotti also won the European Cup as a player with Milan in 1988/89 and 1989/90, making him one of only seven people to have won the UEFA Champions League as a player and a manager.

Carlo Ancelotti has managed in the most UEFA Champions League finals of anybody in history, with six, losing only once in 2005 against Liverpool, and winning the other five.

Ancelotti's first UEFA Champions League win as a manager came in 2003, as he triumphed over his old employers, with Milan beating Juventus on penalties.

Two years later, his side led 3-0 at half-time against a vastly inferior Liverpool side, who miraculously came back with three second-half goals, winning on penalties.

Ancelotti was back at the European showpiece in 2007 in a rematch of the 2005 final, with his side getting revenge over Liverpool with a 2-1 win.

It was another seven years before the Italian would appear in a UEFA Champions League final, this time as Real Madrid manager, guiding Los Blancos to La Decima as they beat rivals Atletico after a 93rd-minute equaliser from Sergio Ramos.

Following his return to the club, Ancelotti beat Liverpool for the second time in a UEFA Champions League final, winning the 2022 contest 1-0, beating Borussia Dortmund 2-0 most recently in 2024.

Carlo Ancelotti has managed in the most UEFA Champions League matches, with 208, winning 120, drawing 44 and losing 44.

In total he's taken charge of eight teams in the UEFA Champions League: Parma, Juventus, Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Napoli.
