Tyson Fury has prepared for a potential blockbuster with Anthony Joshua by producing a dominant display against Mariusz Wach in Thailand.
The Gypsy King is closing in on a lucrative clash with domestic heavyweight rival AJ, with talks understood to be at an advanced stage for the pair to finally meet later this year and he has kept up his end of the bargain by seeing off his Polish opponent.
Fury, who returned from retirement in April and secured a comfortable points victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov. made it two wins from two in 2026 and will now be looking to complete the hat-trick for this year by coming out on top in the long-awaited all-British showdown.
Unique in modern boxing history, the clash between Fury and Wach was non-televised, with only fans at the 1,500-capacity arena in Pattaya, Thailand able to witness the heavyweight showdown.
On fight week Fury had tipped the scales at 264lbs, nearly 30lbs lighter than the 46-year-old Wach.
That marked the first time in 15 years that Fury had been outweighed by his opponent, dating all the way back to his first meeting with Derek Chisora in 2011.
Fury started brightly in Friday's clash - utilising the feints and footwork that have made him so effective throughout his career.
The pace employed quickly began to wear on the 46-year-old Wach, with Fury continually switching southpaw and finding a home for his right hand.
Wach attempted to close the distance and use the clinch to negate Fury's striking at range but the Gypsy King repeatedly managed to work his way out back to range.
As the fight wore on Fury continued to grow in confidence, and despite some suggestions at ringside that Wach may not answer the bell for the fifth round, he opted to fight on and made it to the end of round seven before retiring on the stool.
Joshua will now be aiming to help set up this mouth-watering clash later by seeing off Kristian Prenga – a former two-time European kickboxing champion – when they collide in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, this weekend.
