Turki Alalshikh promises Chris Eubank Jr a shot at Canelo Alvarez

Chris Eubank Jr's manager Elliott Amoakoh has revealed that Turki Alalshikh has promised Eubank Jr a shot at Canelo Alvarez.

Long-term domestic rivals Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn went head-to-head at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 26th April, and reports suggest that the pair could be set to run it back on 27th September.

A family trilogy decades in the making, Eubank Jr came out on top, winning via unanimous decision in a long-awaited bout that didn’t fail to disappoint.

Eubank Jr will take the Benn rematch seriously, make no mistake about it, but he may be eyeing up a world title shot should he emerge victorious in September.

Canelo Alvarez is a name that has been mooted as a potential next opponent. He will face Terence Crawford in September, and should he overcome the American, it could set up a bout with Eubank Jr.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Eubank Jr’s manager Elliott Amoakoh suggested that a shot at Alvarez has been promised by 'His Excellency', Turki Alalshikh.

He said: “I’ve had conversations with Chris, presented some fighters to him and the fight he wants next is Conor Benn.

“Hopefully Canelo gets through Terence Crawford, we get through Conor Benn and then they’ll do it next. So that’s the negotiations that’s going on right now.

Turki (Alalshikh) promised it to us.

“If Chris Eubank Jr comes through that, Eubank Jr-Canelo, here we go. That’s what we want, we get through Conor Benn and then we want Canelo.”

Eubank Jr has only had one shot at a world title during his estemmed professional boxing career, falling short in a contest for the WBA super-middleweight championship against George Groves in February 2018.

That said, if anyone is going to provide the 35 year old a shot at a title, it’s Saudi deal-maker Turki Alalshikh, responsible for organising a number of blockbuster clashes in recent years.
