There will be three competitive cards in Britain on Tuesday, with jumps action from Plumpton coming alongside all-weather meetings from Southwell and Newcastle.
There are plenty of well-contested races to get stuck into and here are the best bets from the Racing Post's Keith Melrose.
12:52 Southwell - Kildonan @ 8/1
15:10 Plumpton - Black Gerry @ 6/1
16:45 Newcastle - Above @ 4/1
12:52 Southwell - Kildonan @ 8/1
In November, Kildonan popped up at a fairly big price over this same course and distance on his return to the all-weather. At the time, it was cited by his trainer Amy Murphy that he had benefitted from a return to artificial surfaces.
That would check out on his profile to this point. The three best runs of Kildonan's six-race career, according to Racing Post Ratings, have been his three on the all-weather. After his win in November, he turned up in handicap company and although he finished seventh, he was only beaten a little over two lengths and ran creditably on form.
More pertinently, that day Kildonan was drawn 12 of 12 over 6f at this track. It can be a tough barrier to overcome, and he did well to be involved at all in the finish.
He is much better drawn this time, in stall three, and with blinkers fitted just to keep him sharp Kildonan can continue his recent revival on Tapeta.
15:10 Plumpton - Black Gerry @ 6/1
Since the start of 2023, Black Gerry has only run twice below Class 2 level. On the most recent occasion, he fell at the second fence. On the other, in a warm race at Kempton, he seemed not to suit going right-handed at a speed-favouring track and was pulled up.
Now he not only drops back to Class 3 level, he is as close to being above this class as it is possible to be. This race is a 0-125, but horses rated up to 127 are permitted to sneak in and that is exactly Black Gerry's rating today.
The last time he raced at Plumpton, Black Gerry was second to the fast-improving Scarface in a valuable race in April. He has had a run this season to get fit and now enters veterans' company.
There is little doubt he has the talent to win this race handily. His stamina for beyond three miles is unproven, but he has always looked to have a bit of stamina in reserve and he is bred to stay as far as you want. He is half-brother to none other than 2021 Grand National winner Minella Times.
16:45 Newcastle - Above @ 4/1
I was with Above when he ran at Kempton last Wednesday. When he drifted out to odds of 33/1, the writing seemed to be on the wall. He defied that market weakness to run a blinder, staying on stoutly to take second.
That was the second time in a row that Above had run an eye-catching race in defeat. The time before, he had missed the break over 5f at Southwell but stayed on well for third. These days, this veteran is ultimately a horse that does his best work late and for that reason he is worth another try at Newcastle.
This track is the stiffest of Britain's all-weather courses. That is especially true on the straight course, where hold-up horses tend to overperform compared to just about any other track in the country.
It is hard to believe that Above has never run here before. This course strikes as being a friend he hasn't met, and with Billy Loughnane in the saddle he can get back in the winners' enclosure.
