Troy Parrott is 6/1 to be Eredivisie top goalscorer in 2024/25 after bagging four for AZ Alkmaar against Heerenveen.
Parrott scored his first after 23 minutes as Alkmaar retook the lead against Robin van Persie's Heerenveen, before firing three more shortly after the break in the space of eight minutes as Maarten Martens' men ran out 9-1 winners.
Parrott graduated from the Tottenham Hotspur academy, making his debut as a 17-year-old in the EFL Cup back in 2019, before making his maiden Premier League appearance three months later.
It's been a long journey for Parrott; loan spells with Millwall, Ipswich Town, MK Down and Preston North End followed his Tottenham debut, but it wasn't until his most recent loan spell in the Eredivisie with Excelsior where he made his breakthrough.
Parrott netted 10 times for the relegated side despite making only 18 starts, then going on to score four goals across both legs of the relegation play-off final. Despite Parrott's efforts, Excelsior fell to a 7-6 aggregate defeat, condemning them to the Eerste Division.
While a permanent place in the Spurs first-team squad eluded Parrott, the Irishman made the swift return across the Channel, joining AZ Alkmaar on a permanent deal worth around £6.7m.
Feyenoord's Santiago Gimenez, who finished behind only Luuk de Jong and Vangelis Pavlidis (now at Benfica), is favourite for top scorer, with De Jong second favourite.
Parrott, the early pacesetter alongside PSV's Hirving Lozano, is third favourite at 6/1, having been as big as 20/1 before the start of the season.
