Tottenham are priced at 3/1 to finish above Chelsea in the 2026/27 Premier League campaign after beating Xabi Alonso's side 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Few gave Spurs a chance heading into gameweek 8's West London encounter -- with the North London outfit having not won there since April 2018 -- but it was an impressive display from Roberto De Zerbi's side that saw them get all three points.
Chelsea created very little, much to the frustration of the home supporters, and the visitors took the lead when Mike Penders -- who was in for the injured Emi Martinez -- punched the ball into his own net.
Matters got worse for Chelsea when Cole Palmer was dismissed after receiving his second yellow card in the 80th minute, and Spurs capitalised, scoring a second through Mathys Tel in the 87th minute.
From a Chelsea perspective, there was lots to get excited about after defeating Fulham and Brighton in their first two Premier League games of the term. While they shipped six goals in 180 minutes, the front three of Palmer, Morgan Rogers and Joao Pedro proved formidable, and the style in which they won was reminiscent of Jurgen Klopp's early days at Liverpool.
Since defeating Brighton at Stamford Bridge, however, they've won twice, lost twice and drawn once in the Premier League. Their poor form can't be put down to simply one thing, with a lack of midfield depth, ill-discipline and questionable tactics amongst the contributing factors.
Any premature suggestions of a potential title charge appear to have been shut down -- with Chelsea already eight points behind leaders Manchester City -- and Alonso will hope to turn their fortunes around rapidly to avoid a similar ending to the likes of Graham Potter, Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.
As for Tottenham, things are finally on the up after a dismal start to the campaign. It took them until gameweek 5 to find the net in the Premier League -- and even then they lost 3-2 to Aston Villa -- but they're now three games unbeaten in the top-flight after drawing to Manchester United and beating Coventry City and Chelsea.
They're still dealing with injury worries of their own, but the return of James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro is a huge boost for De Zerbi.
Spurs finished above Chelsea as recently as the 2023/24 season, but to place higher than them off the back of successive 17th-placed finishes in the Premier League would be seismic in De Zerbi's first full season in charge.
