We take a look at the top 10 French scorers in the UEFA Champions League since 1992/93.

• Karim Benzema (90)

While Karim Benzema rarely took the spotlight whilst representing Real Madrid, playing alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, he led the line in a team that won the UEFA Champions League on five occasions.

The Frenchman scored 90 times on Europe's biggest stage, before moving out of Europe to play for Al-Ittihad.

• Kylian Mbappe (55)

At just 26 years old, it would be no surprise to see Kylian Mbappe top the list by the end of his playing career, having scored 55 goals in the UEFA Champions League already.

He was, however, unable to taste success in the competition whilst playing for Paris Saint-Germain, though it would be a surprise if this remains the case at Los Blancos.

• Thierry Henry (50)

Thierry Henry made the move to Barcelona in 2007, seeking European glory after falling at the last hurdle with Arsenal in the 2005/06 campaign.

He scored 50 times in the competition, five of which came in Barcelona's 2008/09 winning term.

• Antoine Griezmann (42)

Barring a permanent stint at Barcelona between 2019 and 2022, Antoine Griezmann has been a constant figure in Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid team.

Aged 33, it is unlikely that Griezmann will rise much higher up the list, but a record of 42 goals in 105 UEFA Champions League games remains impressive.

• David Trezeguet (29)

David Trezeguet, irrespective of which club he was representing, was prolific in front of goal, scoring 204 goals in 361 career appearances.

29 of his 204 goals came in the UEFA Champions League, playing out his most successful campaign in the 2001/02 season for Juventus, scoring eight times in 10 games.

• Olivier Giroud (24)

Despite winning six trophies whilst playing for Arsenal, it wasn't until he made the switch to fellow Londoners Chelsea that Olivier Giroud would win a European honour.

A UEFA Europa League triumph in 2018/19 was followed up by UEFA Champions League glory just two seasons later.

• Nicolas Anelka (20)

Nicolas Anelka played 68 times in the UEFA Champions League, making 10 appearances in Real Madrid's 1999/2000 winning campaign.

Eight years and five clubs later, the Frenchman missed a penalty in the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League final for Chelsea, as they were defeated by Manchester United.

• Ousmane Dembele (19)

Ousmane Dembele often received criticism during his spell at Barcelona, having moved to the club for a reported €145m fee in 2017, becoming the the joint-second most expensive player of all time.

His move to PSG, however, has seen the versatile Frenchman thrive in the competition, spearheading the club's pursuit of their first UEFA Champions League honour.

• Frank Ribery (18)

Having spent 12 years at Germany's most prestigious club, Bayern Munich, it is no surprise to see Frank Ribery make the list, scoring 18 times in the competition.

He featured in the Bavarians' 2012/13 UEFA Champions League final starting XI, partnered by Arjen Robben on the opposite flank in what proved to be a devastating partnership.

• Kingsley Coman (17)

It's rare that Kingsley Coman goes a season without winning a major honour, though it's hard to top his 2019/20 campaign, scoring the winning goal in Bayern's 1-0 victory over PSG in the UEFA Champions League final.

The winger will have his eyes set on overtaking former teammate Ribery in this list, just one goal off levelling his tally in the competition.
