It's somewhat bonkers to even entertain the notion of some players who walk of the stage claiming their game is in bad shape having just rattled in a three-figure average.

Even more absurd is to get your head around a player partaking in a live televised match and walking off the stage with a 120+ average.

Incredibly though, that's actually now happened on five occasions!

Yes, that's right, Michael van Gerwen, Kim Huybrechts, Connor Scutt, David Evans and Danny van Trijp have all rattled in barmy averages over the 120 mark.

MVG, the great Dutchman, currently holds the world record for the highest recorded TV average, scoring 123.40 in his 7-1 demolition of Michael Smith at the 2016 Premier League.

He is actually just one of two players, along with Phil Taylor, to make the list twice, with his 118.52 score in a 6-1 win over Ross Smith at the 2023 Players Championship also making the cut.

It was the aforementioned Taylor who previously boasted top spot on the list under Van Gerwen's achievements almost a decade ago, with 'The Power's' prolific and pinpoint tendancies around the board earning him an astonishing 118.66 average in his 9-0 whitewash over Kevin Painter in 2010.

It was a record that stood until 2016, although since then numerous other players, including 'Snakebite' Peter Wright have managed to score even barmier numbers.

Whilst MODUS Super Series stars Scutt, Evans and van Trijp must be congratulated for their 120.24 averages, it is worth noting that their scores were achieved in showdowns which consisted of just four legs.

Still, it shouldn't be sniffed at; I mean, how many of us can claim to have replicated their feats?
