Top 10 Active British Boxers: Who are the best British boxers right now?

With British boxing no longer able to rely on Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury it is time for the next generation to pick up the baton.

Moses Itauma and Adam Azim could be generational talents but we won’t know for sure until they face the best in their class at heavyweight and super-lightweight.

As things stand the best of Briton features a mix of world champions, those on the cusp of a title shot and some who are nearing the end of their careers.

With that said, esteemed boxing writer Shaun Brown provides his list of the domestic fighters he feels are right at the top of their game.

Upcoming Fights & Bet Boosts

No.1 - Daniel Dubois

The standout pick on current form simply has to be Daniel Dubois.

With Tyson Fury retired and Anthony Joshua on the sidelines, Dubois is undoubtedly the leading UK heavyweight.

The 27-year-old possesses a ramrod jab and an atomic right hand, and his next stop is Wembley Stadium on July 19 where he has the chance to become undisputed champion.

No.2 - Nick Ball

The Scouse terrier has been a proverbial ‘Wrecking’ Ball in the featherweight division.

His jump to world-level has been seamless and the 5ft 2ins WBA champion is now targeting Japanese superstar Naoya Inoue.

Tough, powerful, durable and with a 12-round engine make Nick Ball a nightmare for any opponent.

No.3 - Callum Smith

Callum Smith resurrected his career with a well-deserved win against Joshua Buatsi in February.

‘Mundo’proved the doubters wrong and showed he is still the number one light-heavyweight in the UK.

A second chance to become a two-weight world champion is on the horizon if he can secure a shot at WBC titlist David Benavidez.

No.4 - Chris Eubank Jr

Love him or loathe him, Chris Eubank Jr is pure box office.

His role in the build-up to his grudge match against Conor Benn and then victory afterwards turned him into an anti-hero.

Now 35, Eubank Jr is on the home straight but a shot at Canelo Alvarez could come his way in 2026.

However, he must first beat Benn a second time in September.

No.5 - Anthony Joshua

Like Eubank Jr our number five entry, Anthony Joshua, is still box-office.

The former unified heavyweight champion can still turn your lights out with his right hand but his loss to Dubois last year proved that he is not the fighter he once was.

An athletic fighting machine, Joshua will always have us on the edge of our seat.

No.6 - Chris Billam-Smith

Boxing’s 'Cinderella Man' got back to winning ways against Brandon Glanton in April showing he is not a spent force.

While he may be short of the level needed to beat Benavidez, Dmitry Bivol or Artur Beterbiev, he has proven what can be achieved with hard work and grit.

There is still life in Billam-Smith, and he will continue to prove that over the next 12 months.

No.7 - Joe Cordina

On his day the Welshman is as talented as anyone on this list but inactivity has hindered his career.

A two-time IBF super-featherweight champion, Joe Cordina is now moving to pastures new at lightweight.

He should still have enough in the tank to challenge for another world title.

No.8 - Jack Catterall

‘El Gato’ should have been undisputed super-lightweight champion if it wasn’t for poor judging in 2024 when he fought Josh Taylor.

Jack Catterall is a tricky night’s work and when he’s in full flow he’s difficult to stop.

Victory against Harlem Eubank on July 6 is vital to his chances of jumping up this list, and more importantly, to finally fulfilling his quest to capture world championship gold.

No.9 - Dalton Smith

Sheffield’s finest Dalton Smith will challenge for the WBC super-lightweight title in 2025 or 2026.

He will find out on July 12 whether he will face Alberto Puello or Subriel Matias.

His rivalry with Adam Azim should also result in a big domestic fight sooner than later, hopefully.

No.10 - Hamzah Sheeraz

The towering super-middleweight makes his debut at 168lbs on July 12 against Edgar Berlanga.

A win against the New Yorker could land him an undisputed title shot against Canelo Alvarez.

Working with new trainer Andy Lee could unlock the full potential of Sheeraz, which, as everyone in the boxing world will attest to, is huge!

Shaun Brown's top 10 active British boxers as of July 2, 2026.
