Rugby League: Wales face Papua New Guinea test

What:Papua New Guinea v Wales, Rugby League World Cup
Where:Eco-Power Stadium, Doncaster
When:19:30, Monday 31st October 2022
How to Watch:BBC2
Odds:Papua New Guinea 1/50, tie 50/1, Wales 12/1

The final match of the group stage at the 2022 Rugby League World Cup takes place on Monday when Papua New Guinea and Wales meet in Doncaster.

Both teams can still qualify for the quarter-finals but it looks a big ask for Wales, who are pointless at the bottom of Group D, to advance any further.

Wales need to beat Papua New Guinea by at least 22 points while a win by any scoreline will do for the latter to hold on to second spot.

The availability of Ollie Olds has boosted the Dragons after he left the field in the loss to Tonga with a shoulder issue. However, they have lost nine consecutive World Cup games - dating back to their semi-final exit at the 2000 edition.

Papua New Guinea, meanwhile, were quarter-finalists in 2017 and, having already beaten the Cook Islands, will be confident of getting the job done in Doncaster.

Cricket: Ireland looking for another shock win

Ireland, fresh from a historic victory over England, can still qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup but they'll need to overcome Australia at 8/1 to keep those hopes alive.

They need to earn victories over both Australia and New Zealand to stand a chance of progressing from Group 1.

Australia won't be taking their opponents lightly as they desperately require a win after their clash with England was abandoned due to rain.

Football: Spurs seeking last-16 spot

Where:Stade Velodrome, Marseille
When:20:00, Tuesday 1st November 2022
How to Watch:BT Sport 2
Odds:Marseille 2/1, draw 12/5, Tottenham 13/10

We already know 12 of the teams that will be involved in the last 16 of the 2022/23 edition of the Champions League. However, Group D has proven to be extremely tight and all four clubs can still secure passage through to the knockout phase.

Tottenham currently top the standings with eight points ahead of Sporting Lisbon and Eintracht Frankfurt, who both have seven points in second and third, respectively, while Marseille are bottom on six points.

Spurs head to Marseille for their final group engagement and boss Antonio Conte has already talked the clash up as a "cup final".

Liverpool also feature in one of the eight games scheduled for Tuesday when Group A leaders Napoli, who won the reverse 4-1, travel to Anfield and are 16/5 to win at Anfield.

Cricket: England take on New Zealand

There is a double-header at the T20 World Cup on Tuesday with Afghanistan facing Sri Lanka at 04:00 and England meeting New Zealand at 08:00.

All eyes will be on the latter clash as Group 1 leaders New Zealand look to further strengthen their grip on top spot, while England will be in danger of going out of the competition if they lose.

Friday's washout against Australia means England have just three points after losing to Ireland and beating Afghanistan.

England can be backed at 8/13 to win against 13/10 New Zealand.

Football: Promotion hopefuls in action

What:Norwich v QPR, Championship
Where:Carrow Road, Norwich
When:19:45, Wednesday 2nd November 2022
How to Watch:Sky Sports Main Event
Odds:Norwich 10/11, draw 13/5, QPR 3/1

There are six fixtures scheduled in the Championship on Wednesday and the pick of the bunch comes from Carrow Road when Norwich host QPR.

Norwich sit fifth after beating Stoke 3-1 on Saturday to halt a six-game winless run and they trail third-placed QPR by two points after Michael Beale's side fell to a 2-0 loss at Birmingham on Friday.

The Canaries are unbeaten in four meetings with QPR and haven't lost at home since going down 1-0 in the 2008/09 campaign.

Championship leaders Burnley, unbeaten in 15 league outings, are also involved on Wednesday when they welcome Rotherham to Turf Moor.

Football: Blues target top spot

It looks set to be a quieter night in the Champions League on Wednesday with Group G settled, while Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica battling it out for top spot in Group H, with Juventus already eliminated.

RB Leipzig are in need of a point at 10/3 to edge qualification over Shakhtar Donetsk, with Real Madrid expected to take top spot in Group F.

Chelsea, who lost for the first time under Graham Potter on Saturday, know a win will see them become the top seeds from Group E and some of their players may have revenge on their agenda against Dinamo Zagreb.

September's defeat to Dinamo saw the end of Thomas Tuchel's reign and despite already being in the hat for the last 16, Potter will be desperate to see his side bounce back after Saturday's setback.

Football: Arsenal gunning for top spot

What:Arsenal v FC Zurich, Europa League
Where:Emirates Stadium, London
When:20:00, Thursday 3rd November 2022
How to Watch:BT Sport 2
Odds:Arsenal 1/7, draw 13/2, FC Zurich 14/1

Arsenal are already guaranteed a spot in the knockout phase of the Europa League but they aren't certain to finish top of Group A as they prepare to face FC Zurich on Thursday.

After losing 2-0 at PSV last week, Arsenal sit top and just two points clear of the Dutch outfit heading into the final round of fixtures.

Mikel Arteta will be keen to finish at the summit to avoid playing extra games in the knockout round play-offs and they should have too much for FC Zurich, who are bottom of the standings.

Manchester United also face a battle for top spot in Group E when they travel to leaders Real Sociedad in a winner-takes-all clash.

Sociedad beat United in the first game of the campaign at Old Trafford and the two clubs are separated by three points.

United can be backed at 6/5 to beat 11/5 Real Sociedad and the draw is available at 12/5.

Football: Preston performing well on the road

What:Reading v Preston, Championship
Where:Select Car Leasing Stadium, Reading
When:20:00, Friday 4th November 2022
How to Watch:Sky Sports Main Event
Odds:Reading 6/4, draw 11/5, Preston 9/5

Reading and Preston square off in the Championship on Friday with the latter sitting 10th, one place better off than the former, although they are both level on 25 points.

The Royals had started the season really strongly but just one win from their last six outings has seen them slip down the standings.

They can call on a strong home record, though, with 19 of their 25 points coming at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

But Preston head south with the second-best away record in the division, earning 15 points on their travels, and could provide a test for Paul Ince's men.

Football: Whites looking to build on Anfield triumph

What:Leeds v Bournemouth, Premier League
Where:Elland Road, Leeds
When:15:00, Saturday 5th November 2022
Odds:Leeds 3/4, draw 14/5, Bournemouth 10/3

Leeds pulled off a major shock when beating Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield on Saturday to bring an end to their eight-game winless run, including four successive defeats.

That victory will matter little if they fail to back it up when Bournemouth head to Elland Road in one of five Premier League games set to take place on Saturday.

Bournemouth have lost three in a row as they threw away a two-goal lead to fall to a 3-2 defeat against Tottenham on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Manchester City host Fulham, Brentford travel to Nottingham Forest, Wolves meet Brentford at Molineux and Leicester head to Goodison Park to take on Everton.

Cricket: England close out against Sri Lanka

The final Group 1 match of the T20 World Cup sees England meet Sri Lanka at 08:00 in what could prove to be a decisive fixture.

England's mixed start, which has been impacted by a washout and a loss to Ireland, means they can't afford any further slip-ups.

Where:Stamford Bridge, London
When:12:00, Sunday 6th November 202

There are three games set for 14:00 with Aston Villa hosting Manchester United, Newcastle travelling to Southampton and West Ham taking on Crystal Palace at the London Stadium.

Closing out the day is another mouthwatering clash with Tottenham and Liverpool meeting in the capital at 16:30.

Tottenham are 19/10 to pick up all three points against 5/4 Liverpool, who are yet to record a win on the road in the league this season, while the draw is 13/5.
