THE PLAYERS Championship, colloquially known as the 'fifth major', sees one of the strongest fields in golf descend on TPC Sawgrass in a bid to win one of the sport's most coveted prizes.
First played in 1974, THE PLAYERS has been won by some of golf's biggest stars, from Jack Nicklaus, Ray Floyd and Lee Trevino, to Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy.
144 of the world's best players head to Florida to take on the Stadium Course - and the iconic 17th hole.
Though measuring a mere 137 yards, the par-3 17th with its island green can be where the tournament is won and lost.
