Judd Trump reached seven ranking TV finals in 2024, winning four of those, and will be desperate to kick 2025 off in triumphant fashion as he strives to further cement his standing as the world number one.
The 35-year-old is a two-time Masters champion and will take to the baize in North London having captured the 2024/25 season's first Triple Crown title at the UK Championship in early December.
In fact, that success was his fifth on the tour in 2024, having also reigned supreme at the German Masters, World Open, Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters and Shanghai Masters, as well as coming out on top at the York Barbican.
Trump will be wary of a strong field however, albeit one which doesn't feature the tournament's most revered performer, Ronnie O'Sullivan, after he opted to withdraw on 'medical grounds' following a surprisingly poor showing at the Championship League this week.
His spot has gone to world number 17 Neil Robertson, who features pretty high in the betting, as does reigning World Champion Kyren Wilson - who is chasing his maiden Masters title.
Multiple winners Mark Selby, Mark Williams and John Higgins are also amongst the field, and have all proven in the past that they have what it takes to last the pace in this enthralling seven-day long event.
