1983 World Darts Champion Keith Deller MBE delivers his outright selections for The 2024 Masters as 24 of the PDC's leading stars bid to capture the coveted title in Milton Keynes.
Michael van Gerwen - To Win Outright @ 4/1
Michael van Gerwen lost out to Luke Littler in the final of the first World Series of Darts event in Bahrain recently and vowed to get his revenge.
He did just that a week or so later to become the Dutch Darts Master, and I'm backing him to follow that up with another win at the Marshall Arena.
Michael ended last year well below par, going almost four months without tasting a single victory - which by his standards is almost unheard of.
He's more determined than ever to prove that he is the best player on earth, even more so given the rise of Luke Littler in recent times, and I just feel that he will be full of confidence after his 7-4 win over Littler in the final of the Dutch Darts Masters.
No player has won this title more than MvG - he's a five-time winner, remarkably capturing all of those in successive years between 2015 and 2019.
He's not lifted the trophy since then however, but I just feel that this is his time to shine, and the BOOSTED price of 4/1 for Michael to be holding that trophy aloft on Sunday looks very appealing.
Luke Humphries - To Reach the Final @ 11/10
I think it's fair to say that Luke Humphries has been enjoying the moment since winning the World Darts Championship, and who can blame him!
It took a real Herculean effort to follow up his victories at the Grand Prix, Grand Slam and Players Championship Finals to land the biggest one of the lot in early January, and he's been enjoying himself on the back of that.
I saw he was parading his trophy around Elland Road recently, the home of his beloved Leeds United, and that will have been incredibly special for him.
But his head will be right back on darts now as we look ahead to the first big tournament of the New Year.
He's had the two World Series events in Bahrain and the Netherlands to keep his arm in gear, but I really expect to see him kick on again now, which is why I am expecting Luke to reach yet another major final this weekend.
I feel he will come up just short against a rejuvenated MvG, but I fully expect to see him fly through his quarter and then go on to move through to Sunday's final.
Rob Cross - To Win the Fourth Quarter @ 7/4
The other player I am backing to reach the semi-final stage is Rob Cross - a player who has been absolutely superb for the past six or seven months.
He's incredibly well seasoned now, he's very consistent and is incredibly confident.
Rob has always been able to talk the talk, he is a World Champion after all, but he is really starting to back up the talk with good performances too.
I think he looks a good bet to come through the fourth quarter at the expense of the favourite, Michael Smith.
