WTA Indian Wells Open: Free Tips, Prediction and Odds

Polish world number two Iga Swiatek heads to the Indian Wells Open hoping to make it three wins in the last four seasons in California, but the WTA Tour is more competitive than ever and there are a long list of rivals to her supremacy.

Top seed Aryna Sabalenka, who was runner-up to Elena Rybakina here in 2023, is tournament favourite and the big-hitting Belarusian would be difficult to defeat if rediscovering her peak form.

However, that is no guarantee on the back of early eliminations in Qatar and Dubai and she is at the most vulnerable she has been for some time.

Swiatek also has to respond to a quarter-final exit to Mirra Andreeva at the Dubai Tennis Championships last time out, so it could be a tournament where punters can benefit from rolling the dice.

Having claimed her maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January, Madison Keys makes her much-anticipated return to action and spearheads a strong American challenge also featuring world number three Coco Gauff and fourth seed Jessica Pegula.

2023 champion Rybakina will be another player to be feared alongside teenage prodigy Andreeva, who could be ready to kick on following her recent title success in Dubai.

Madison Keys each-way - 12/1

Having taken so long to break her Grand Slam duck at the Australian Open, there is the potential for Keys to become even more consistent and she is a fascinating contender on her comeback at Indian Wells.

Keys has been out of competitive action since her heroics in Melbourne but a break may be no bad thing and if in a similar vein of form, then she should have a big say on proceedings.

The American had to do things the hard way to land her first Major crown, doing so by beating five seeded players, including the world's top two in Sabalenka and Swiatek.

Keys may need a couple of rounds to warm up but she could also be transformed with the shackles removed.

The 30-year-old will be seeded fifth in California and the reward for that is a nice early draw, where fellow American Emma Navarro looks her toughest possible test before the quarter-final.

If she makes the last eight, then another compatriot, Gauff, could await but the world number three has been beaten by Marta Kostyuk and McCartney Kessler in the opening round of her last two tournaments and has to be vulnerable.

Keys may have to renew her rivalry with Sabalenka in the semi-final but, she should have little to fear if she makes it that far, given that she denied the Belarusian in the final of the Australian Open.

Jessica Pegula each-way - 20/1

Keys could boast the best credentials of a strong American contingent but at a bigger price, in the opposite half of the draw, it would be dangerous to underestimate Pegula.

The fifth seed may not win as often as she should, but she is extremely consistent and claiming the ATX Open last time out as top seed should have done her confidence the world of good.

Pegula has found herself in what looks like a soft section of the draw, with Jelena Ostapenko arguably her toughest opponent before a potential quarter-final showdown with one of Rybakina or Andreeva.

But it is at the back end of competitions when the 31-year-old is at her most devastating. By that point, she could be on an eight-match winning streak, so she ought to be confident of claiming a high-profile scalp.
