Taylor Fritz and Jack Draper will play for a place in the third round of the Olympic Men’s singles on Tuesday.
Both players enjoyed comfortable wins in the first round with Fritz, the No.7 seed for the tournament, seeing off Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in straight sets, 6-4 6-4.
Draper put paid to Kei Nishikori’s chances of further Olympic joy as the 2016 Bronze medallist was dismantled 6-1 6-4 in less than an hour and 15 minutes.
The match will be shown on Eurosport, Discovery+ and BBC iPlayer.
The match is due to be played on Tuesday 30th July, with the court and time to be confirmed once the order of play has been finalised.
Fritz and Draper have met twice before on the professional circuit — once on clay and once on grass.
The American edged out the Briton over the course of three sets in their latest meeting at the BMW Open in Munich this year.
Fritz prevailed 7-1 in the final set tie-break to reach the semi-finals of the clay court event, gaining some revenge for Draper’s shock win over the then-world number 14 at Queen’s Club in 2022.
