After impressive performances throughout the competition, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz once again meet in the final of a tournament as the two face off in the gold medal match at the Olympics.
World number two Djokovic has an impressive 98 titles to his name - including a record 24 Grand Slam wins - and an Olympic triumph is arguably the only award missing from his trophy cabinet.
His run to the final started with a dominant 6-0 6-1 thrashing of Australian Matthew Ebden and has also included taking the impressive scalps of Spanish legend Rafael Nadal and number eight seed Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Carlos Alcaraz is still only 23 years of age but he already has 15 career titles - three of which have been won this year - and the Spaniard defeated Djokovic in straight sets in the final of Wimbledon at the beginning of July.
He began his Olympic singles campaign with a routine victory over Lebanon’s Hady Habib and, like his Serbian final opponent, is yet to drop a set in this competition - so a tight, high-quality encounter is expected.
Novak Djokovic to win @ 2/1
Djokovic has won three French Open titles in his career - the most recent of which came in 2023 - but this is arguably his most important appearance on Court Philippe Chatrier and he could finally complete the set of tennis accolades by claiming Serbia’s second gold - and second medal - of the Games.
At the age of 37, this is likely to be Djokovic’s last chance at an Olympic triumph and his previous attempts at success in this tournament has resulted in three separate semi-final eliminations - claiming bronze just once in 2008.
Now that he has finally gone one round further in reaching the final, Djokovic will be desperate for success, particularly given his recent defeat to Alcaraz at Wimbledon - his second loss to the Spaniard on the grass court in as many years.
However, he has beaten the world number three in their only previous meeting on French clay - a 6-3 5-7 6-1 6-1 victory in the semi-finals of the French Open in 2023 - and Djokovic did go on to win that tournament so he will buoyed by the knowledge that he has got one over the talented 23-year-old on this court before.
Over 0.5 Tie Breaks @ 13/8
Both Djokovic and Alcaraz have barely put a foot wrong so far in this competition, with neither player yet to drop a set, and it could lead to the match being separated by the tightest of margins.
Over the course of the six previous head-to-heads between the two, there have been six tie-breaks and another could be in store in this clash.
Djokovic was taken to a second-set tie-break against Tsitsipas in their quarter-final meeting while Alcaraz has been taken to two tie-breaks so far - against Tallon Griekspoor in the second round and Tommy Paul in the quarter-finals.
Given the step up in quality of opponent that each player now faces, it looks more than feasible that another breaker will be needed at least once.
