The women's tennis at the Olympics gets underway on the clay courts of Paris on Saturday and among the biggest opening matches is Naomi Osaka versus Angelique Kerber.
Both players, although having struggled throughout 2024, are iconic names in the sport and lock horns in the first round as they begin their quest for gold.
The winner of the match will take on either 17th seed Caroline Garcia or Romanian ace Jaqueline Cristian in the second round, with Kerber retiring from tennis when her Olympic run comes to an end.
Naomi Osaka v Angelique Kerber will be available to watch on Eurosport 3 and Discovery+.
Naomi Osaka v Angelique Kerber will take place at 19.30pm BST on Saturday 27th July in Paris.
Kerber has the upper hand when it comes to the head-to-head with Osaka, although it was the Japanese ace who won their last meeting 6-2 6-3 in Miami two years ago.
That victory for the Japanese broke a four-match losing streak against the German left-hander.
Kerber has lost 14 of her 21 matches on the WTA Tour this year, however, the German is a two-time quarter-finalist on these courts at the French Open, reaching that stage in both 2012 and 2018.
Osaka, meanwhile, has never been beyond the third round at the French Open.
