Jiri Lehecka v Jack Draper Prediction

Best Bet: Jack Draper -2.5 games on the handicap @ 5/6

Draper is having a fantastic season and the British number one has already achieved one of his main aims for this week just by reaching the semi-finals at Queen's.

After the early exit of Taylor Fritz, who lost in the first round in London against qualifier Corentin Moutet, Draper knew that just making the last four this week would see him secure the fourth seed in the draw for Wimbledon.

That goal has been accomplished in victories over Jenson Brooksby, Alexei Popyrin and Brandon Nakashima and now Lehecka stands in his way of a place in the final against Carlos Alcaraz or Roberto Bautista Agut, who play later on Saturday.

Third seed Fritz was far from the only leading player to depart early on and Draper now has the opportunity to reach the final without facing a single seeded player.

Lehecka has impressed to date with a trio of straight-sets wins over fifth seed Alex de Minaur, Gabriel Diallo and Britain's Jacob Fearnley, but the 23-year-old world number 30 looks up against it now he faces Draper.

The Czech player won his first ATP event with a win over Draper in the final of the 2024 Adelaide International, coming from a set down, but the rapidly improving Brit has won both of their subsequent meetings in the Paris Masters last year and this season in Doha.

Draper looks capable of winning by a reasonable margin and backing him to cover a handicap of -2.5 games appeals.

Phil Agius says:

Jack Draper is a star on the rise in tennis and with the fourth seed for Wimbledon now secured he can set about making a final in front of a passionate home crowd in London.

Draper has dropped sets in his last two matches, losing the first set to Popyrin and the second against Nakashima, but he won't want to hang around with a potentially huge game coming up on Sunday and he could get this match over without the need for a third set.

All three of Draper's opening sets in the tournament have lasted at least nine games, so we can add over 8.5 first-set games to our bet builder confidently as Lehecka's three first sets have taken 10, 10 and 12 games to complete.

Draper’s big serve is a huge asset for him on grass courts and after recording 22 aces over his first two Queen's matches, he fired down 14 more in his quarter-final against Nakashima.

Taking the Brit to post 10 or more aces in his semi-final appeals.

Phil Agius adds:

Draper's powerful serve is a big help to him on grass and he should be able to pick up plenty of service-game points with his booming lefty deliveries.

Tactics and Form

Draper finished the 2024 season as the world number 15 but is currently at number six in the rankings and is set to rise higher to be seeded to reach the semi-finals at Wimbledon.

Having reached two Masters 1000 finals this season, the 23-year-old Londoner has taken his game to a new level.

Lehecka's four ATP finals (two wins, two losses) have all come on hard courts and, while his early win over De Minaur was notable, he has not been tested that hard in his last two matches and he faces a severe examination against the in-form Briton.
