Jack Draper's potential route to the Wimbledon final

Britain's hopes of crowning a Grand Slam champion have been lifted by the dramatic rise of Jack Draper, who is up to a career-high fourth in the world rankings and heads to Wimbledon as a legitimate title contender.

Draper made the semi-final of last season's US Open to announce himself as a player to follow on the ATP Tour and he has built on that in 2025, claiming the biggest win of his career at the Indian Wells Masters in March.

Another Masters 1000 final followed for the 23-year-old at the Madrid Open and, if he stays fit and healthy, then there should be plenty more big successes for him to celebrate.

The British left-hander is 14/1 to lift his maiden Grand Slam title at the All England Club and he heads to Wimbledon on the back of a semi-final run at Queen's Club, which may have been the perfect preparation.

Below, we chart Draper's potential path to the Wimbledon final.

First round - Sebastian Baez

Draper has failed to go past the second round at Wimbledon in three previous attempts and his opening assignment at this year's All England Club sees him face Argentina's 38th-ranked Sebastian Baez.

That is tougher than could have been the case, but Draper has won both previous meetings between the pair in straight sets and Baez is at his best on clay.

The Argentinian has lost in the opening round in the last two years at SW19 and he is likely to endure that fate again.

Second round - Marin Cilic

Having been dumped out at this hurdle last year by fellow Brit Cameron Norrie, Draper will be desperate to do better and his second-round encounter would see him square-up against either Raphael Collignon or Former US Open champion Marin Cilic.

Given Collignon is featuring in the main draw of a Grand Slam for the first time, Cilic's experience should prevail and the Croatian is a former Wimbledon runner-up, having played second fiddle to Roger Federer in 2017.

Cilic, now 36 years of age, has evidently been on a steep decline and this is only his third Grand Slam appearance since the 2022 US Open, so Draper should prevail.

Third round - Alexander Bublik

If Draper does go on to make the third round of Wimbledon for the first time then it would be a big surprise if the in-form Alexander Bublik wasn't his opponent.

Bublik must first overcome Jaume Munar and Fabian Marozsan or James McCabe, but the Kazakh couldn't be in much better touch following his title success at Halle last time out.

The world number 30 defeated Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev on his way to victory in Germany, so this will be a stern test for Draper, who was beaten by the Kazakh in four sets in the last-16 of the French Open at the start of June.

Fourth round - Jakub Mensik

If the British favourite finds a way past Bublik then another tough test awaits in the fourth round, with Jakub Mensik the player to be feared most.

The 19-year-old Czech talent showed the threat he carries when winning the Miami Open in March, where he defeated Draper before reeling off victories over Arthur Fils, Taylor Fritz and Novak Djokovic.

The world number 17 possesses a big serve and plenty of power and would be sure to give Draper a proper battle.

Quarter-final - Novak Djokovic

Draper's reward for making the quarter-finals could be a showdown with seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, who has made six straight finals at the All England Club.

Djokovic has been beaten by Carlos Alcaraz in the last two Wimbledon finals and he tends to save his best for these hallowed turfs. He is expected to have another deep run, with Alex De Minaur looking like the only real obstacle in the Serb's way before the last eight.

This pair have met only once previously, which came in the first round at Wimbledon in 2021, when Djokovic was made to work hard in a four-set triumph.

Semi-final - Jannik Sinner

World number one Jannik Sinner has made at least the semi-finals in six of his last eight Grand Slam appearances, taking three titles during that period, so it would be some sort of a surprise was he not to figure in the latter stages.

The Italian should see off the likes of Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton and Lorenzo Musetti to make the final four and that would be a huge hurdle for Draper, who suffered a 7-5 7-6 6-2 to the Italian in last season's US Open semi-finals.

That said, the hope for the Brit is that he did have Sinner's measure in their only previous grass-court clash at Queen's Club in 2021.

Final - Carlos Alcaraz

Providing Draper can successfully navigate his way through what looks an extremely difficult path then a final with hat-trick seeking Carlos Alcaraz could wait.

Alcaraz has defeated Djokovic to claim the Wimbledon title in each of the last two seasons and he is currently on an 18-match winning streak following title successes in Rome, the French Open and Queen's Club.

The Spaniard, already a five-time Grand Slam champion, has lost only one of his last 26 grass-court matches, although that defeat did come against Draper at Queen's in 2024.

Alcaraz leads his personal series with Draper 4-2 and the world number two has won all five Grand Slam finals that he has contested.
