Jack Draper v Jenson Brooksby: Free Tips, Prediction and Odds

Playing in just his third event of 2025, Jack Draper looked anything but rusty in his opening match at the Indian Wells Open.

Up against Portuguese teenage sensation Joao Fonseca, who has been touted as a potential future Grand Slam winner, there was no complacency from Briton Draper, who won 6-4 6-0 in California.

His reward for that win is a clash with unseeded American Jenson Brooksby, who has more experience under his belt than Fonseca and is fresh from knocking 17th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime out 6-4 6-2 in the previous round.

This is his third match at the tournament, while Draper received a bye into the second round.

This year it has been a case of quality over quantity for Draper, who has been cautious about time spent on the courts after suffering a hip injury in the off-season.

And it is fair to say his workload has been managed well given that he has excelled in both tournaments he has played in this season, reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open and the final of the Qatar Open.

His run in Doha featured victories over Matteo Berrettini and Jiri Lehecka and he is on the cusp of breaking into the world's top ten.

Because he has allowed himself adequate rest between events this season, he has looked sharper and more determined and that was certainly the case against Fonseca.

Draper handled the Brazilian's powerful forehand well and struck down six aces himself in the straight-sets win.

Looking at his next match against Brooksby, there is no reason why Draper should not win 2-0 again.

These players have met twice on the ATP Tour - on the hard courts of Antwerp and the grass of Eastbourne in 2022 - and Draper won both contests in straight sets.

Brooksby may have seen off Auger-Aliassime, but has otherwise underwhelmed this season, failing to impress in recent Challenger events and losing his only match at the Dallas Open against Tommy Paul.

A similar wager to the first selection, Brooksby is also worth backing to win under 10.5 games against Draper.

Given his ongoing hip problem, Draper will not want to allow the match to go any further than it needs to and he showed that ruthless side to him in his opener against Fonseca.

In the two previous meetings between the players, Brooksby won three games in Antwerp and four in Eastbourne.

It is fair to use those previous meetings as a gauge for how this could pan out, even if they were three years ago, as Brooksby has had two years out of the sport and is playing in only his third tournament back at the top level.

He was a former world number 33 and there could well be more to come from the American, but on this occasion a one-sided match is expected.
