Indian Wells Men's Tips, Predictions and Odds

The first combined WTA and ATP 1000 event of the season gets underway in Indian Wells this week and the Californian competition should not disappoint.

There are plenty of intriguing narratives in the men's tournament, from Novak Djokovic's first appearance since 2019 to the return of Rafael Nadal.

But the old guard could be up against it at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, where a number of outsiders will be keen to make names for themselves.

Indian Wells Men's tips and predictions

Jannik Sinner to win Indian Wells Men's title - 3/1

Jannik Sinner has been the standout player on the ATP tour in 2024 and he is the obvious selection to win the Indian Wells men's title.

Looking at the main outright candidates, there are reasons to oppose each of them.

Djokovic has not featured at Indian Wells since 2019, last winning it in 2016, and started 2024 on the back foot, failing to make the final of his beloved Australian Open.

He faces a reasonably tricky draw with Casper Ruud and Hubert Hurkacz in his quarter, while quarter two is even tougher, featuring Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune, Taylor Fritz, Sebastian Korda and, of course, the returning Nadal.

Punters should avoid any players in that quarter and, while the draw has been kinder to Carlos Alcaraz, the Spaniard failed to make an impression at both the Argentina Open and the Rio Open in February.

But Italian Sinner ticks all the boxes.

He has played some terrific tennis this year and is unbeaten in 12 matches in 2024, claiming his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open before winning an ATP 500 event in Rotterdam weeks later.

The trickiest opponent on paper for Sinner in his quarter is Andrey Rublev and he leads their head-to-head 5-2 so should have no issues making the last four at the very least.

Alex de Minaur to win Indian Wells Men's title - 25/1

Stationed in the same quarter as Alcaraz, Australian De Minaur is another player to keep an eye on.

With reasons to oppose most of the big guns in Indian Wells, it is worth looking a little further down the betting and De Minaur is a value pick.

The Australian was exceptional at the recent Mexican Open, taking down the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Jack Draper and Casper Ruud en route to the title.

And he was also a finalist at the ATP Rotterdam earlier this season after also making the fourth round of the Australian Open and he looks a dangerous outsider.

Alex de Minaur to win quarter four

For those wanting to back De Minaur but unsure of selecting him in the outright betting, it could be worth backing him to win the fourth quarter.

Beating Sinner in a potential semi-final matchup may be a stretch too far for the Australian but he could come out on top in his quarter, which features Alcaraz and Zverev as his most dangerous potential opponents.

He starts in the second round and will face the winner of Taro Daniel vs Daniel Galan before a likely encounter with Alexander Bublik in the third round. It is then that the draw suggests he will come across Zverev, before taking on Alcaraz for the quarter - a match he is more than capable of winning.
