Aryna Sabalenka has so far lived up to her status of pre-tournament US Open favourite but the Belarusian second seed should expect a stern semi-final test from American ace Emma Navarro, who will be roared on by a passionate home crowd.
Sabalenka warmed up for the US Open with a title success in Cincinnati and she has dropped only one set in her five victories in New York City.
The world number two finished runner-up to Gauff in last season’s tournament at Flushing Meadows and will be determined to go one place better.
However, Navarro has been equally impressive in making her maiden Grand Slam semi-final, highlighted by her latest two victories over defending champion Coco Gauff and a resurgent Paula Badosa.
This match will be available to watch on bet365’s Sports Live Streaming platform and on Sky Sports Tennis, Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports+.
This semi-final showdown between Emma Navarro and Aryna Sabalenka will take place at 00:00 BST the night of Thursday 5th September at Flushing Meadows, New York.
Sabalenka has won ten matches in a row and she has dropped only one set along the way.
Having claimed back-to-back Australian Open titles as well as finishing runner-up to Coco Gauff in last season’s US Open final, Sabalenka is bidding to reach a fourth straight hard-court major final.
Navarro is making her Grand Slam semi-final debut but the 23-year-old is on a steep upward trajectory and has climbed up to world number 12.
This pair have met only once on a hard court and Navarro triumphed 6-3 3-6 6-2 at Indian Wells in March.
The latest chapter in the rivalry between the pair went the way of world number two Sabalenka, who eased to a 6-2 6-3 success on the clay at the French Open in June.
