Eastbourne International: Prediction, Tips and Odds

Wimbledon is a week away, but before the third Grand Slam of the season begins several star names are putting the final touches to their preparation at the ATP and WTA Eastbourne International.

Taylor Fritz claimed the Eastbourne International title in both 2019 and 2023 and the American is the favourite to become the first man to complete a treble at Devonshire Park.

Fritz is joined in the draw by his compatriot Tommy Paul, fresh from winning his third ATP Tour title at Queen's Club, while there are a number of British men in the draw including Cameron Norrie, who will be desperate to find some form on the eve of Wimbledon.

The women's event features a former Wimbledon champion in 2022 SW19 heroine Elena Rybakina. She leads the betting, while the home challenge is headed by Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter.

Eastbourne International betting tips and predictions

Tommy Paul to win ATP Eastbourne @ 9/2

Paul's participation could be in some doubt following his triumphant win over Lorenzo Musetti in the Queen's final, but the 27-year-old improver looks a big Eastbourne threat should he decide to make the short journey from London to East Sussex.

The American saw off a solid list of opponents at Queen's, beating Sebastian Baez, Alejandro Tabilo, Jack Draper and Sebastian Korda before posting a victory over Musetti and the draw has been very kind in Eastbourne.

Second seed Paul receives a first-round bye before a meeting with one of two British wildcards - Billy Harris or Jacob Fearnley, while the other seeds in his half are either struggling for form, which is the case with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, or better suited to clay courts in Baez and Mariano Navone.

Two-time champion Fritz dominates the top half and he's certainly worthy of respect, but his run to the latter stages looks potentially tougher than that of Paul, who made the Eastbourne final a year ago, losing out to Francisco Cerundolo.

Madison Keys to win WTA Eastbourne @ 6/1

The WTA tournament looks equally trappy and, while Rybakina at her best would be difficult to beat, there are huge question marks over the Kazakh after she retired in her Berlin quarter-final match with abdominal pain.

The 25-year-old has struggled with illness on several occasions this season and she looks on the short side at 11/4, even if she should still have enough class to overcome either Marie Bouzkova or Britain's Harriet Dart in round two.

A better bet comes in the form of defending champion Madison Keys, who like her compatriot Fritz is bidding to win a third Eastbourne crown this week.

Keys has not been seen since losing in the third round of the French Open, but taking a month off did her no harm last season and she should return to Eastbourne full of confidence having won a title in Strasbourg at the end of May.

She has won 13 of her last 16 matches, with two of her defeats coming against Iga Swiatek.

Katie Boulter to win WTA Eastbourne @ 12/1

While Emma Raducanu is a shorter price, the best of the Brits could prove to be Katie Boulter, who should be freshened up having retired in Birmingham two days after playing twice on the same day to take the Nottingham title.

After an injury-plagued career, Boulter has really found form over the last year, winning back-to-back in Nottingham and also claiming a 500 Series title in San Diego in March.

Her game is well suited to grass and she could go far given that likely second-round opponent Jelena Ostapenko has been out of form.
