Cameron Norrie v Alexander Zverev: Prediction, Tips and Odds

It might have been a disappointing year to date for Cameron Norrie, but he can build on his latest confidence-boosting win and progress to the second week at Wimbledon.

The 28-year-old recently lost his position as British number one, which seemed to inspire him as he beat Jack Draper - the man who took that position - in the second round.

That straight sets win on Court One will have raised a few eyebrows and Norrie knows he now needs to back that up with a win over Alexander Zverev

If he is to progress, he will have to end a losing run against the German, but his experience on grass could prove crucial.

Cameron Norrie v Alexander Zverev betting tips and predictions

Cameron Norrie to win - 4/1

There have been five previous ATP Tour meetings between the two men and it’s Zverev who has won all five matches going into this third-round SW19 clash.

Two things though can give Norrie real hope of ending that run, including the way he was beaten in their most recent meeting.

That came at the Australian Open, when the pair fought out a five-set thriller, with Zverez taking the victory in a final-set tie-break.

Norrie will take the positives from that display, including the fact that hit more winners than his rival and he will also have the full support of the crowd - with the match expected to be played on one of the show courts.

The pair have never met on grass before and that should give the Brit an edge, especially when you consider their Wimbledon records.

The British number two - who has beaten the German twice in qualifying and Challenger events - is playing in his seventh Wimbledon, Zverev his eighth and it’s Norrie who has progressed further in previous campaigns.

The 28-year-old made the semi-finals at SW19 in 2022, taking Novak Djokovic to four sets before going out to the seven-time champion.

In contrast, French Open runner-up Zverev has never made it past the fourth round at the third Grand Slam event of the year and is yet to win a grass-court tournament.

First Set Winner - Cameron Norrie - 12/5

If Norrie is to knock out the fourth seed, it’s likely he will need a good start and look to win the opening set.

He has lost the opening set in each of their five previous ATP Tour meetings, three of those in a tie-break, while he was never in front in Melbourne.

Both players go into this clash having won their opening two matches in straight sets, with Norrie having had more of a test to date.

After beating Facundo Diaz Acosta in round one, Norrie caused an upset when beating 28-seed Draper - who had won the Stuttgart grass-court event last month.

That victory will stand him in good stead when facing fourth seed Zverev, who beat world number 64 Roberto Carballes Baena and then America’s Marcos Giron - ranked 46 in the world - in his first two matches.

Ace Totals - Alexander Zverev 20+ - 5/4

After 10 full years on the ATP Tour, Zverev has fired 5004 aces and the stats show he wins 74% of 1st Serve Points.

So far at this year’s Wimbledon, the German star has served 30 aces - averaging 15 in each of the opening two rounds.

With Norrie expected to pose a serious threat and with the British fans willing on his opponent, the adrenalin will be flowing through Zverev when he gets on court.

He will believe his serve could be crucial to his chances of success, especially when you consider Norrie has served less than half his number of aces (14) so far at this tournament.

It’s worth noting that Zverev served 15 aces to Norrie’s 10 in their Australian Open epic, with the 27-year-old reaching a top speed of 210 km/h.
