Alex de Minaur vs Novak Djokovic Tips, Predictions and Bet Builder

Novak Djokovic has eased into the round of 16 at Wimbledon and the seven-time champion is a strong favourite to reach the quarter-finals at the expense of Alex de Minaur.

Djokovic needed four sets in his tournament opener against Alexander Muller, but he has looked at his imperious best in crushing straight-sets wins over Dan Evans and fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic in his last two matches.

He is just 1/6 to defeat De Minaur, who hasn't been overly stretched in wins over Roberto Carballes Baena, Arthur Cazaux and 192-ranked Dane August Holmgren.

However, this is a significant step up for the Sydneysider, who is 4/1 to cause the upset.

Alex de Minaur vs Novak Djokovic Prediction

Best Bet: Under 36.5 games @ 5/6

Djokovic earned his 100th Wimbledon win in his third-round victory over Kecmanovic, and the 38-year-old looks to be in flying form ahead of his meeting with De Minaur.

This match should've happened 12 months ago, when De Minaur was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon at the quarter-final stage with injury, but now he gets a belated opportunity to topple the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

De Minaur has beaten Djokovic in the past, catching him cold at the United Cup in 2024, but the Serb crushed him at the 2023 Australian Open, and he was a dominant winner on clay in Monte Carlo the following season.

Djokovic has dropped just 24 games in the tournament, and 12 in his last two matches, and he should win handily against a rival who lacks the weapons to trouble him on this surface.

Given Djokovic's short price, under 36.5 total match games - which has landed in Djokovic's three Wimbledon matches - could be the best way to profit.

Joe Champion explains:

Djokovic has outclassed his last two opponents and he has no reason to fear De Minaur. The Aussie is a consistent performer, but he lacks the weapons to take Djokovic out of his comfort zone. Expect the match to be settled quickly.

Novak Djokovic has come out firing at Wimbledon so far, dropping just one game in the opening set against Muller, then three games in his victories over Evans and Kecmanovic.

World No.11 De Minaur is a tougher opponent, but the Aussie is a weak server relative to his ranking, and he will be under pressure to hold from the off. Expect Djokovic to win the first set for the loss of three or four games.

Djokovic has been serving superbly at SW19, but his brilliant return game has meant he has only had to play one tie-break in three matches.

Under 7.5 double faults should also land if this match is settled in either three or four sets.

Djokovic will aim to stamp his authority early, and can win the first set for a loss of either three or four games. De Minaur's weak serve will be under constant pressure, and he might struggle to take a set to a tie-break. Neither man has had more than three double faults in a match at Wimbledon this year,

adds Joe Champion.

Tactics and Form

Djokovic's versatility, precise serving and relentless baselining have helped to make him a seven-time Wimbledon champion and he has looked rock-solid in his first three matches.

The Serb will look to manoeuvre De Minaur around the court, and while the Aussie is one of the best movers on the ATP World Tour, he will have to be at the peak of his powers to live with Djokovic over the best-of-five format.

De Minaur lacks the weight of shot to hurt his illustrious opponent, so his best bet will be to use his speed to stay in points. If he can make this a drawn-out affair, he will have a chance, but it appears to be a remote one.
