The 27-year-old was the only Team GB boxing representative to capture a medal in Paris last summer, landing bronze in the stacked super-welterweight division.

Richardson has been sought after by some of the leading promoters in boxing, with Matchroom and BOXXER both believed to have made advances to sign the amateur star up to multi-fight deals,

However, it's Frank Warren's stable who have won the race for his signature, announcing Richardson's capture across their social media platforms on Friday afternoon.

Speaking in a Queensberry announcement video, Richardson signalled his ambitions of fulfilling his world title dream and emulating the likes of Tyson Fury and Joe Calzaghe, both of whom have served as an inspiration to him.

My inspiration as a professional is to go all the way, to win a world title.

"I remember watching the likes of Joe Calzaghe, Richie Woodhall and in more recent years, of course, the likes of Tyson Fury.

"Years and years of experience, Frank has. It gives you goosebumps knowing you are joining a very illustrious group of fighters."

The Colchester-born star initially took up boxing as a way of building up his fitness in an attempt to forge a career in professional football, but soon switched his sporting allegiances after becoming national schoolboy champion in 2012.

A succession of back issues hindered his amateur prospects, before he bounced back emphatically, winning silver at the European Championships in Armenia in 2022, before taking bronze at the Birmingham-staged Commonwealth Games.

He subsequently went on to reach the semi-finals of the 2026 Paris Games, but came up just short against eventual gold medal winner Marco Verde, who is set to make his pro debut on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez v William Scull in Saudi Arabia this weekend.

Along with a plethora of champions, contenders and prospects, Richardson will join his GB Boxing teammate, Delicious Orie at Queensberry, with the talented heavyweight making his professional bot for Warren last month.
