Netminder Cam Talbot says he's focussed on helping the Minnesota Wild achieve success at the most important time of the NHL season.
The Wild, 18/1 to win the Stanley Cup in 2021/22, had 26 saves from 34-year-old Talbot on Tuesday to shutout the Montreal Canadiens 2-0 and extend their point streak to seven games (5-0-2).
Talbot's stats stand up
Talbot has gone 11-0-3 in his past 14 starts with a 2.34 goals-against-average and .918 save-percentage with two shutouts.
His impressive form has followed the challenge of Minnesota acquiring three-time Stanley Cup Champion Marc-Andre Fleury from the Chicago Blackhawks on 21st March to compete for his number-one spot.
37-year-old Fleury has also impressed in his short time with the Wild posting a 6-1-0 record in seven starts, a .921 save-percentage and 2.59 goals-against-average.
The solidity of the pair has helped the Wild improve to 48-21-7 and second place in the Central Division, tied on 103 points with the St. Louis Blues. The Colorado Avalanche have clinched the divisional title.

Talbot is in the second year of three season contract which he signed with the Wild on the opening day of free agency in October 2020.
He said to the media: "It's always good to go out there and just help the team win, that's all I'm looking to do.
"I mean, shutouts are always an added bonus, but the win is what really matters, especially this time of year with the standings the way they are and playing for home ice."
