Nothing typifies the unpredictability of the Vitality Blast better than Gloucestershire's triumph in 2024 as they became the seventh different side to win the competition in as many years.

Overall, there have been 13 different winners of the Blast since the inaugural edition in 2003 and this year's staging appears to be just as competitive as the previous seasons.

Somerset's hopes of going back-to-back in the Blast were extinguished as Gloucestershire claimed their maiden title with a glorious eight-wicket triumph and while the Bristol-based club will have their sights fixated on retaining their title, history suggests that's a nigh-on impossible task.

Pre-season favourites Surrey succumbed to one of the great Finals Day comebacks by Somerset in the semi-finals last year and Gareth Batty's men will be eager to transfer their County Championship dominance into the 20-over format.

Despite finishing top of the North Group for a third season running, the Birmingham Bears' knockout woes haunted them once more and the Warwickshire outfit have gone seven years without a Finals Day appearance.

Lancashire possess a number of exceptional white-ball operators and have added Australian duo Chris Green and Ashton Turner to their ranks for the upcoming campaign, while other contenders include Nottinghamshire and three-time winners Hampshire Hawks.
