Sydney FC are sweating on the fitness of Milos Ninkovic after the playmaker picked up a hamstring issue in the 2-0 defeat against the Newcastle Jets on Friday night.
The Sky Blues will be out to win the A-League grand final this season but suffered a setback when dropping crucial points against the Jets.
Just to make matters worse playmaker Ninkovic left the field five minutes into the second half after complaining of tightness in his hamstring.
Boss Steve Corica says the player was taken off as a precaution but they still face an anxious wait to discover what the problem is.
"I'm not sure whether he's done something to his hammy or it's just tightened up on him, that's the reason why he came off," Corica said.
"He felt something in the first half, he thought he was okay to go back out, but it just got worse in the second half so we thought we'd take him off straight away."
Meanwhile Corica is demanding his players bounce back after putting in a flat performance against the Jets.
Sydney now have back-to-back derby games against Macarthur on Wednesday night and Western Sydney Wanderers three days later. And Corica says they are itching to get back out there.
"A short turnaround is probably a good thing this week," Corica added. "Both games are very important for us with the derbies, but we want to get out there as quick as possible after that performance tonight."
