Swansea City agree loan deal to sign Manchester City winger

Swansea City have reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester City to sign talented winger Jeremy Monga.

Vitor Matos' side have enjoyed a fruitful start to the 2026/27 Championship campaign, extending their unbeaten run to three games with a convincing 3-0 victory over Derby County on Saturday afternoon.

Their Pride Park triumph puts them third in the second tier standings ahead of a home contest against Watford on Tuesday night.

The Swans have been credited with some impressive business in the summer transfer window thus far, and the club are striving to add more forward depth before the deadline at 23:00 on Tuesday 1st September.

Championship

As per respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Swansea have agreed a deal with Man City winger Monga on a season-long loan deal.

A verbal agreement is in place that will see the England youth international temporarily trade Manchester for south west Wales, with Citizens boss Enzo Maresca approving the Championship outfit as the perfect club for the exciting prospect to develop.

Monga first made a name for himself when becoming the second-youngest player to feature in the Premier League in April 2025, coming on as a substitute for Leicester City in their 3-0 defeat to Newcastle in the Premier League.

The Foxes' relegation to the Championship created an opening for the winger to feature more regularly in the 2025/26 term. While he did make an impressive 27 second-flight appearances, Leicester endured another dismal campaign and suffered a second successive relegation, this time to the third tier of English football.

Reigning Premier League champions Arsenal expressed a desire to sign Monga in the early stages of the summer transfer window, but the player opted to join Man City after Maresca presented the club's long-term project.

Monga will continue his development away from the Etihad for the time being, however, and there's arguably few Championship prospects more exciting than Swansea after a striking window.

The club have made mass improvements to their front line, with Joseph Opoku, Moussa Yeo and Ross Stewart amongst the attackers joining Matos' side on a permanent basis.

Swansea are priced at 12/1 to end their eight-year stay in the Championship and earn promotion to the Premier League.
