Sunny Edwards and Galal Yafai meet in a highly-anticipated, all-British flyweight showdown this Saturday night.

The bout pits former IBF champion Edwards against Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallist Yafai with the WBC 'Interim' flyweight title and domestic bragging rights at stake in the Birmingham showpiece.

Having recorded wins over stellar names in Moruti Mthalane, Felix Alvarado and Muhammad Waseem, Edwards boasts the more experience as a professional.

With the sole loss of his 22-fight career coming to pound-for-pound star Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez, the Croydon man has mixed it with the best names in the 112lbs division.

Yafai, meanwhile, for all of his amateur acclaim, has yet to compete in a twelve round contest in the paid ranks.

The former Team GB standout has, so far fought opponents that have been beneath his level, and steps up in quality against Edwards on Saturday night.

The two men are very familiar with one another, having shared the ring as amateurs, as well as numerous rounds sparring as professionals.

Both have spoken about the competitive and entertaining nature of those spars, and fans can look forward to a spectacle this weekend in the second city.

For me, I feel the experience advantage will be a key factor for Edwards. In his 22 bouts, he has been 10 rounds or more in exactly half of them.

I feel he will look to neutralise the marauding, all-action style of Yafai early on, before finding a rhythm - as he has so often done - and securing the bout down the stretch on the judges scorecards in a fight that will be competitive and rich in quality throughout.
