Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano took to 'X' to break the news that Sunderland have agreed a deal to sign midfielder Noah Sadiki from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise.
Romano added that the "agreement (is) done and medical (was) done this morning, (with) contract valid until June 2030."
He is set to join Sunderland for "€17m plus €3m add-ons."
Having announced the acquisition of club-record signing Habib Diarra just a day ago, Sunderland are set to further bolster their midfield options in the form of Sadiki.
Personifying versatility, Sadiki has played the majority of his minutes as a central midfielder, often playing in a deeper role. That said, is he not a stranger to a shift at full-back, playing on both flanks numerous times in recent years.
The Congolese international joined Anderlecht at the age of six, emerging through the youth academy and playing 19 times for the senior side before making the permanent switch to fellow Belgian Pro League side Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023.
The last two terms has seen Sadiki become a regular started in the Union Saint-Gilloise setup, playing over 100 times for the club.
The 2024/25 Europa League campaign was likely where the midfielder gained the majority of his admirers, playing 10 times as his side reached the knockout stage.
Should the coup of the 20 year old be announced prior to the imminent signing of former Atletico Madrid defender Reinildo Mandava, he will become the third permanent signing since the Black Cats have returned to the Premier League.
While Regis Le Bris’ side are favourites for relegation in the 2025/26 campaign, their activity in the transfer window would suggest that they’re not just here to make up the numbers.
