According to reports, Sunderland's play-off final winning hero Eliezer Mayenda is of interest to Portuguese champions Porto.
The Dragões comfortably lifted the Primeira Liga last season, finishing six points ahead of second place, but ultimately underperformed in Europe, being knocked out of the UEFA Europa League by Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest in the quarter finals.
As they embark on a season back in the UEFA Champions League and look to defend their Portuguese crown, Porto have been active in the transfer market, having been linked to a number of top players already this summer.
A striker is reportedly high on Porto's wish list ahead of the 2026/27 season, with Igor Jesus and Santiago Gimenez among the players linked with a switch to Portugal.
However, according to Keith Downie via X, the Portuguese champions are interested in a move for Sunderland striker Eliezer Mayenda, who scored in the Black Cats' play-off final win, to help them earn promotion to the top flight just over a year ago.
The 21 year-old, who played a key role for Sunderland in the Championship, found minutes and goals hard to come by in the Premier League, scoring just two goals in 20 league matches last season.
Despite seemingly out in the cold last season, Mayenda's contract still has a reported four years left to run, placing Sunderland in an extremely strong negotiating position for any potential sale.
Having originally joined Sunderland back in 2023 from French Ligue 2 side FC Sochaux-Montbéliard for around €800k, Mayenda has made 72 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals and registering six assists.
Porto aren't the only club on the continent interested in a move for the Spanish youth international, with French duo Stade Rennais and Paris FC both also linked with a move for his signature.
