Sunday’s Sport: Premier League and Rugby League steal focus

Sunday offers up more sporting action with the Premier League and Rugby League World Cup games to look forward to.

Starting with football in England’s top flight and there are two intriguing contests from the Premier League to take in from north London and Manchester.

Arsenal have endured a recent dip in form after a draw with Southampton, before defeat to PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League in midweek. With Manchester City beating Leicester City 1-0 on Saturday, the Citizens leapfrogged Arsenal into top spot in the Premier League standings.

Arsenal will be determined to make City’s return to the top short lived, when they host Nottingham Forest at the Emirates on Sunday. Forest have started to find their feet with the level of the Premier League in recent weeks and stunned Liverpool last time out with a 1-0 win at the City Ground.

Steve Cooper’s side have not won away in the league this season and are 11/1 to pick up their first three points on the road against the Gunners.

Manchester United seem to be settling into life with Erik ten Hag at the helm as the Red Devils welcome former boss David Moyes and his West Ham side to Old Trafford on Sunday.

United are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions and now find themselves in the midst of a battle to finish in the top four this season.

West Ham have also been improving after a shaky start to the campaign, with just one defeat now in their last eight games. Looking for three wins on the spin in all competitions, the Hammers are underdogs at 19/5 to claim the three points at Old Trafford.

With England topping Pool A, it’s all or nothing for Samoa and France as they battle it out for second place and a spot in the Rugby League World Cup quarter-finals. The pool has played out as expected and both these sides would have probably known it would come down to Sunday’s clash at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Samoa were blown away by England in their opening game in Newcastle, before the Pacific Islanders did their own demolition job on Greece.

France put up more of a resistance in their defeat to Shaun Wane’s England but go into Sunday’s game against Samoa as underdogs. Les Bleus are available at 1/1 with a +28 handicap against a Samoa side packed with stars from the NRL.
