Strictly Come Dancing: Week Eight preview

There is plenty at stake heading into week eight of Strictly Come Dancing 2022, as the remaining couples look to secure their places for next week's iconic trip to Blackpool.

Following a three-year absence, Strictly will return to the Blackpool Tower ballroom next week for what is always one of the most memorable occasions of the series, but before then the remaining eight couples must survive one more week.

Last week saw former paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds exit the competition after she and her partner Nikita Kuzmin were beaten in the dance off by actress and singer Molly Rainford, who is partnered with Carlos Gu.

At the other end of the leaderboard, wildlife presenter and cameraman Hamza Yassin wowed the judges with his Cha-Cha-Cha alongside partner Jowita Przystal and they head into this weekend at 2/5 to lift the famous Glitterball Trophy.

What:Strictly Come Dancing, Week eight
Where:Elstree Film and Television Studios, Borehamwood
When:18:55, Saturday 12th November
How to watch:BBC One
Odds:Hamza Yassin 2/5, Helen Skelton 3/1, Will Mellor 16/1, Tyler West 25/1, Tony Adams 25/1

Hamza the one to beat

Hamza has been impressing throughout his time on the show, picking up the highest score from the judges on four occasions, with the 38 he received last week only being bettered by the 39 he scored whilst dancing the Salsa during week four.

A perfect 40 score must now be the aim for Hamza, who is 1/10 to finish as the top male in the competition, with the 32-year-old taking on his Couple's Choice alongside Jowita this week, as the pair prepare to dance to 'Jerusalema - Remix' by Master KG feat. Burna Boy and Nomcebo Zikode.

Presenter Helen Skelton and her partner Gorka Marquez came in just behind Hamza and Jowita last week, scoring 37 with their Jive, and they are 3/1 to go on and win the competition.

The duo, who topped the leaderboard with the judges during week five, will be dancing a Salsa on Saturday to 'Despacito' by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber.

Former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh also scored 37 last week, as she and her partner Graziano Di Prima wowed the judges with their Argentine Tango.

That was by far and away their best individual score of the series to date, but they are 50/1 to win the competition and 4/1 to be the next couple eliminated, meaning they are going to have to produce another show-stopping performance when dancing an American Smooth to 'Chasing Cars' by Cinematic Pop this weekend.

Tyler seeking return to his best

Kiss FM presenter Tyler West had been one of the frontrunners in the competition prior to last week's show, but he and his partner Dianne Buswell underwhelmed with their Viennese Waltz, only scoring 29.

Tyler is now 25/1 to win the competition and 22/1 to be eliminated next, although he can take comfort from the fact he is yet to have been involved in a dance off.

The same cannot be said for Molly, who found herself in the dance off for the second time in the space of three weeks despite scoring 35 with her Foxtrot.

Molly is clearly a favourite of the judges, but she does not seem to be getting the same recognition from the watching public, which means she will have to deliver with her Rumba this weekend if she is to avoid being eliminated at odds of 5/1.

Singer Fleur East has also survived a couple of dance offs alongside partner Vito Coppola and she is 9/2 to be eliminated next. The duo will be looking to steer clear of the bottom two when they dance a Samba to 'Hot Hot Hot' by Arrow.

Is it Tony's time to go?

Arsenal legend Tony Adams has established himself as a firm fans favourite and he is still yet to be involved in a dance off despite recording the lowest score with the judges five times alongside partner Katya Jones, including their Salsa last week.

Tony is 3/1 to be eliminated next, but perhaps there are more Arsenal fans watching Strictly than we think, although it must be said that the north Londoners are playing Wolves at the same time as Saturday's show - could that affect the former Gooner's score?

If Tony does make it through to Blackpool, then Ellie Taylor and her partner Johannes Radebe could be in trouble. The Comedian only scored one more point with the judges than the former football star last week and she is 11/4 to be sent home.

Ellie will be dancing a Charleston to 'Friendship' by Elaine Paige and Bernard Cribbins this week, while Tony will be Jiving to 'Land of 1,000 Dances' by Wilson Pickett.

Actor Will Mellor could also be in danger, as he has struggled to hit the same heights as he produced on week one when he topped the judges scoring alongside partner Nancy Xu.

Another underwhelming week could spell the end for Will ahead of Blackpool. The 46-year-old will be dancing a Waltz to 'Three Times A Lady' by the Commodores and he is 20/1 to be eliminated.
