Stoke City v Coventry City kick-off their 2024/25 Championship campaigns in front of the live television cameras on Saturday lunchtime.
The Potters head into the new campaign with plenty of optimism after ending the 2023/24 term with three successive victories over Plymouth Argyle, Southampton and Bristol City to allay any relegation fears.
Meanwhile, Coventry City will be eager to ensure a fast start to the new campaign, after their playoff hopes were dashed after losing six of their final eight Championship outings last term.
Stoke City v Coventry City will be broadcast live on the Sky Sports+ channel.
Stoke City v Coventry City is set to take place at the bet365 Stadium with the match scheduled for a 12:30 (BST) kick-off on Saturday 10th August 2024.
Stoke City will look to end an 18-year home hoodoo against the Sky Blues with the Potters last tasting success on home soil in this fixture back in 2006.
It's a run that stretches five matches with the hosts collecting just a solitary point during that time, succumbing to defeat in each of the four other encounters.
Ellis Simms' 51st minute effort was enough to secure maximum spoils for Coventry last term, with the two sides playing out a goalless draw in the return fixture.
The Sky Blues prevailed 2-0 in the Potteries in 2022/23, whilst the sides battled out a 1-1 draw the campaign prior.
Historically, it's a far more tightly contested head-to-head than in recent times though, with Coventry winning 28 of the meetings and Stoke 26.
The other 11 encounters have ended all square.

The Potters have been dealt numerous injury blows during pre-season, losing the services of numerous key personnel.
Summer acquisition Sam Gallagher appears set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a muscle injury less than 30 minutes into his debut against AZ Alkmaar, whilst the likes of Ben Pearson, Ryan Mmaee, Enda Stevens and Bae Junho will also miss out this weekend.
Steven Schumacher could however hand competitive debuts to three of his summer recruits, with Viktor Johansson, Ben Gibson and Eric Bocat all pushing for starts.
Mark Robins has overseen change at Coventry City this summer, but will be confident of maintaining another playoff charge in 2024/25.
The Coventry City boss has lost the services of key attacking midfielder Callum O'Hare, after he bid farewell to join Sheffield United on a free transfer, but Jack Rudoni arrived in a £5m deal from Huddersfield Town, and looks set to make his Sky Blues debut.
Brandon Thomas Assante is another big money arrival, with the former West Bromwich Albion ace hoping to get the nod to start at the bet365 Stadium, along with fellow frontmen Ellis Simms and Haji Wright.
