Eimantas Stanionis takes on Vergil Ortiz Jr on Sunday 9th July at AT&T Center in San Antonio in a rescheduled welterweight contest.
The pair were originally set to clash in March, but were delayed after Stanionis underwent an emergency appendectomy in January.
It was then rescheduled for April, but this time Ortiz Jr was forced to withdraw due to a recurrence of rhabdomyolysis.
Ortiz previously pulled out of a fight in March 2022 against Michael McKinson due to the condition, but then went on to record a ninth-round TKO of McKinson in August later that year.
The fight is expected to take place over 12 rounds and it will be Stanionis’ first outing since claiming the WBA (Regular) welterweight title.
Both of these fighters boast unbeaten records as Ortiz has 19 wins in as many attempts, Stanionis has 14 wins and one no contest in a 15-fight career.
Ortiz, the WBO International holder, is hoping to earn a world title shot before the end of the year.
Stanionis holds world title ambitions of his own and Errol Spence Jr holds the top WBA belt, with Stanionis holding the secondary title.
Spence Jr is also the IBF and WBC champion at 147-pounds, with Terence Crawford in possession of the WBO title.

The fight is due to take place on Saturday July 8th in Texas, meaning either a late night or an early start for viewers in the UK on the Sunday morning.
The main event is due to start at around 4am BST on Sunday July 9th.
The contest will take place at San Antonio’s AT&T Center in Texas, USA, which means Ortiz Jr has home advantage as a native of the state.
The venue is a multi-purpose indoor arena on the east side of the city and is primarily used for basketball as the home of NBA outfit San Antonio Spurs.
The AT&T Center has also held UFC events and music concerts.
Stanionis v Ortiz will be shown live on DAZN in the UK. The fight will be broadcast in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Ortiz Jr is rated as the 2/7 favourite, with Stanionis priced at 5/2.
Stanionis holds the WBA (regular) belt, while Ortiz Jr is in possession of the WBO International title but there are no major world titles on the line.
However, both fighters are highly-ranked in the welterweight division - Ortiz Jr is third and Stanionis fifth according to transnational boxing rankings - and the winner of this clash will move a step towards a showdown with either Spence Jr or Crawford.
Stanionis is unbeaten in a 15-fight career with 14 wins and one no contest, which came in 2021 against former WBA champion Luis Collazo.
That contest had to be stopped in the fourth round after Collazo sustained a cut from an accidental clash of heads.
The 28-year-old has been out of the ring for over a year, however, as his last outing came in April 2022 when he claimed the WBA (regular) belt with a split decision victory over Radzhab Butaev.
Stanionis has managed nine wins inside, and has a unanimous decision win over former WBO light welterweight title challenger Thomas Dulorme on his CV.
Ortiz Jr is regarded as one of the rising stars of the welterweight division and has firmly established himself as a knockout specialist, with all 19 of his victories coming inside the distance.
The 26-year-old won his first four outings in the first round and claimed victories over the likes of Antonio Orozco, Samuel Vargas, Maurice Hooker and former WBO challenger Egidijus Kavaliauskas, before becoming the first man to beat Briton McKinson.
Stanionis may well represent the biggest challenge of Ortiz Jr’s career to date and the winner of this high-quality match-up may well be in line to take on either Spence Jr or Crawford next,.
However, the two welterweight champions are due to meet in a blockbuster unification fight later in July.
Details of the undercard are yet to be confirmed.
