Finucane is being hailed as the new golden girl of British cycling after claiming gold in her first event at the Olympics.
Anchoring the British team that consisted of Katy Marchant and Sophie Capewell, the trio broke the world record on three separate occasions as they stormed to victory against New Zealand in the final.
Finucane became Britain's first women's sprint world champion for a decade in 2023 and now the 21-year-old is a heavy favourite to follow-up her triumph in the team event by winning the individual sprint and keirin.
If she is successful in both, Finucane will become the first British female athlete to win three golds in a single Olympics, which would see her emulate Team GB cycling coach and Olympic legend Jason Kenny.
