Charlie's Choice appears to have an outstanding chance in the 1m4f handicap at Southwell for David Simcock.

It is no bad thing to see a horse dropping class after running well in a higher grade and Charlie's Choice recorded an encouraging third in a better race over 1m2f at Lingfield last time, keeping on to good effect.

He meets inferior opponents here and should be suited by an extra two furlongs. The last time he ran over 1m4f he recorded a lifetime-best Racing Post Rating.

Two starts back Charlie's Choice registered another eye-catching effort when going close at Wolverhampton as he came from further back than ideal in a steadily run affair.

With Hayley Turner taking over in the saddle from an apprentice, a big run is expected.

18.00 Southwell - Kylian @ 2/1

Kylian bolted up in a 5f contest at Newcastle last month and has strong claims of following up off 7lb higher in the 5f handicap at Southwell.

He is unexposed on the all-weather and that performance took his record to two from two on the sand.

While Southwell presents a different sort of test to Newcastle for Kylian, the strong pace he requires seems guaranteed with various forward-goers in the line-up.

The selection is 9lb worse off with the reopposing Equilateral, but that horse is nine now and has seen better days. Take the three-year-old to back up that success with the prospect of more to come on his second start following a 76-day break.

It was inevitable that Archie Watson, a dab-hand with sprinters, was eventually going to bring this former smart juvenile back to his best.

19.00 Southwell - Mystery Of Love @ 9/2

It is worth giving Mystery Of Love another chance in the 7f novice at Southwell after she could only finish eighth on her debut at Newmarket two months ago.

That was a stronger race than this one and the winner looked a potentially top prospect, while there was a bias towards those drawn low there.

The first three home were berthed in stalls one, two and three, while Mystery Of Love produced her challenge on the other side of the track from stall 12.

She will know more on her second start and this daughter of Ten Sovereigns should be well capable of dealing with the switch to the all-weather.

Her trainer, William Haggas, could hardly be in better form, and this looks a decent opportunity with nothing setting an overwhelmingly high bar.
