What is Sonny Bill Williams famous for?

Sonny Bill Williams is one of the most decorated professional rugby players in New Zealand history.

One of just two players to have represented his country in both rugby league and rugby union, the second-row forward starred for NRL sides Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Sydney Roosters, whilst also featuring 12 times for the Kiwis men's senior team.

His rugby union career proved even more successful, featuring for European heavyweights Toulon, in France, amongst numerous other sides Down Under.

Bill Williams was famously part of the All Blacks side that captured World Cup glory in both 2011 and 2015, playing alongside fellow greats Richie McCaw and Ma'a Nonu.

The 39-year-old also competed for New Zealand in the 2016 World Cup Rugby Sevens Series and the 2016 Olympic Games.

As a boxer, the heavyweight has captured the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association title as well as the WBA 'International' heavyweight belt, but was stripped of both after failing to undertake mandatory defences.

His upcoming clash with Paul Gallen will represent his first venture back inside the ropes in almost three years.
