The Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters is going to become the latest major sporting event held in Saudi Arabia, as snooker stages a ranking tournament in the country for the first time in 2024.
The tournament has been billed by World Snooker as the 'fourth Major' in the sport and a prize pool of £2m is in line to be paid out at the first staging.
World Snooker has agreed an initial 10-year deal for the staging of the event, officially known as the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.
The Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters is set to first take place from Saturday 31st August through to Saturday 7th September, 2024.
Session times for the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters have yet to be confirmed.
Saudi Arabia is two hours ahead of the UK, meaning sessions are likely to start around 12:00 (BST) and 17:00 (BST), based on regular snooker convention for the playing of events at local time in the region in which they are held.
The Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters is scheduled to take place at the Green Halls in Jeddah.
The venue has already hosted the 2024 World Pool Championship – the crown jewel of the World Nine Ball Tour.
World Snooker have confirmed that: 'Global television syndication will ensure fans around the world will get to enjoy the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.'
As yet, no official broadcaster for the UK and Ireland has been confirmed.
As yet, no official information has been released on the make-up of the field. As it is a ranking event, qualifying will be the likely path of entry for those not ranked inside the world's top 16.
World Snooker has so far confirmed that the event will be a world ranking event open to all 128 Tour players, plus six local wild cards from the Saudi Arabian Billiard & Snooker Federation.

World Snooker have, though, suggested: 'The inaugural Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters - spearheaded by the world's leading players - officially becomes the sport's 'fourth major' alongside the traditional Triple Crown events.'
A prize pot of over £2m will be at stake in what is the second richest event on the prestigious World Snooker Tour schedule in 2024.
The 2024 event will crown the first ever winner.
Earlier this year, the 2024 World Masters of Snooker was held for the first time in the Global Theatre in Riyadh.
The non-ranking event was held over three days in March, with Ronnie O'Sullivan defeating Luca Brecel 5-2 in the final to collect the first prize of £250,000.
