Jack Lisowski downed Ding Junhui 10-9 in a high-quality first-round World Championship contest and Jackpot will now take on Stuart Bignham for a place in the last eight.
Ballrun got the better of the in-form Gary Wilson in the opening round and the 2015 world champion will be hoping for more Crucible glory.
Jack Lisowski -1.5 frames - 4/5
There has often been a weight of pressure and expectation when Lisowski has rocked up in Sheffield, but Jackpot’s chance of lifting a first World Championship crown hasn’t been talked up anywhere near as much this year after what has been a pretty average season.
Of course, the Cheltenham potter is yet to even win a major event, but the 32-year-old is a six-time ranking event finalist and the ability to land the Sheffield showpiece is certainly there.
Lisowski had to qualify for a crack at this year’s Crucible crown and Jackpot looked in excellent nick when dismissing Matthew Stevens to land a place in the World Championship.
The reward was a difficult first-round tie against the top-level Ding Junhui, but Lisowski displayed an excellent all-round game to reach the second round and that may not be where Jackpot stops.
Bingham also made it through the qualifiers and Ball-run got past the in-form Gary Wilson 10-5 in his opening Crucible contest. That was a good victory, but Wilson rather gave the game away and the Basildon potter looks to have more on his plate against Lisowski.
Bingham can call on an excellent Crucible record and Bullrun had his day in the sun when lifting the 2015 World Championship title. The 47-year-old reached the last four in 2021, the quarter-finals in 2022 and he does have the scoring power to be a dangerous opponent.
However, that alone will not be enough to get past Jackpot, and you have to worry about the long game, safety play and match sharpness of Bingham, who has not gone deep in a ranking event this term.
Lisowski got to the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Championship, where he lost a final-frame decider to John Higgins, and Jackpot looks excellent value to collect another last-eight spot.
Over 3.5 match centuries - 6/5
This hasn’t been a World Championship that has been littered with century breaks, but this second-round tie could be a high-scoring contest.
Bingham made seven breaks of more than 50 in his opening Crucible contest against Wilson and that included runs of 98 and 117. Ball-run has hit 18 centuries this season, and while that isn’t a huge number, he hasn’t played many matches outside of the short-format Championship League.
Lisowski made six ton knocks in qualifying for the Crucible, Jackpot has hit 30 centuries in 38 ranked matches this season, but again, all but a couple of those contests have been short-format games.
This second-round best-of-25-frame contest is a match between two attacking and open players and it should result in plenty of high-quality breaks.
