Helsinki International Snooker Cup: Dates, schedule, players, How to watch, history & more

There’s a new tournament for snooker fans to look forward to with the inaugural staging of the Helsinki International Snooker Cup.

The invitational event welcomes eight of the sport’s top performers and there is a total prize pool of 150,000 euros up for grabs. 

It marks the first professional tournament to be staged in Finland as the sports popularity continues to grow in the Northern European country.

The Helsinki International Snooker Cup Dates takes place over the 25th and 26th of May, 2024. 

Helsinki International Snooker Cup - Times

It’s a one table set-up in Helsinki with matches played through afternoon and evening sessions.

The four quarter-finals will take place at 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 21:00 and will be played over the first day of the competition. 

The second day of the tournament will bring the event to a conclusion with two semi-finals getting underway at 12:00 and 15:00 and the final being played at 19:00.

Helsinki International Snooker Cup - Venue

The inaugural Helsinki International Snooker Cup will will be held at Helsinki's Kulttuuritalo. 

The venue known as the Culture House has a rich history and acts such as Queen, Tina Turner and Bon Jovi have performed at the historic venue. 

Completed in 1958, the main hall can accommodate a total of 1,452 spectators.

Helsinki International Snooker Cup - History

This is the inaugural staging of the Helsinki International Snooker Cup and the first ever professional snooker tournaments staged in Finland.

Eight top potters have been invited to compete in the Helsinki International Snooker Cup and the line up is headed by the newly-crown world champion Kyren Wilson. 

The Warrior is joined by 2023 Crucible king Luca Brecel and 2019 Sheffield star Judd Trump. 

2015 world champion Stuart Bingham is also in the line-up and legendary cueman Jimmy White also takes a spot. 

The eight-man field is competed by Ryan Day, Jack Lisowski and Robert Milkins, who was a late replacement for seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry. 

Helsinki International Snooker Cup Quarter-final line-up

The quarter-finals are played over best-of-seven frames, with the semi-finals rising to nine while the final will be contested over the best-of-11-frame format.
