David Gilbert v Kyren Wilson: Prediction, Tips, Odds and Start Time

Kyren Wilson is the only seeded player left standing at this year's World Snooker Championship as he prepares to take on David Gilbert in the last four.

It has been a tournament filled with shocks and this is the first time since 1977 that three qualifiers have made it through to the semi-final stage, with Gilbert being joined in the last four by Jak Jones and Stuart Bingham.

As the 12th seed, Wilson is the highest-ranked player left in this year's draw and he has been installed as the 6/5 favourite to go on and lift his first Crucible crown.

Gilbert is 5/1 to go all the way in Sheffield and this best-of-33 frame contest, which will be played over a potential four sessions, promises to be an epic battle as this year's tournament enters the iconic one-table format.

Kyren Wilson -3.5 match handicap @ 1/1

While many of the world's best players have suffered earlier-than-expected exits from this year's tournament, Wilson has been able to enjoy relatively serene progress through to the last four.

The Warrior came through his opening two matches against Dominic Dale and Joe O'Connor unscathed, before gaining his revenge over John Higgins in the quarter-finals - triumphing 13-8 after losing to the same player 13-2 in Sheffield last year.

A former Crucible finalist, it shouldn't be too surprising that Wilson has made it through to the semi-finals, although his run comes off the back of an underwhelming season.

The same can be said of Gilbert, who is through to his second World Championship semi-final and has previously been ranked in the world's top 10, but after a disappointing season he came into this year's tournament sitting 31st in the rankings.

The Farmer overcame defending champion Luca Brecel in a final-frame decider in round one before convincingly seeing off first Robert Milkins and then Stephen Maguire to set up this showdown with Wilson.

This will be the 12th career meeting between these two players, with Wilson currently shading the head-to-head 6-5, although it is Gilbert that triumphed in their only previous Crucible clash, coming through 13-8 en route to the semi-finals in 2019.

Gilbert also beat Wilson at the 2021 Masters, but it is the Warrior that has won both their encounters this season, most recently claiming a 3-0 success in the Championship League in February.

Having previously reached the World Championship final in 2020, Wilson should have the know-how to get the better of Gilbert and given the comprehensive nature of his victories at the Crucible this year, he could be worth backing with a -3.5 handicap.

Over 5.5 match centuries - 6/5

The amount of century breaks at this year's World Championship is down on recent years, with 52 having been made to date, but almost 20% of those have been produced by either Gilbert or Wilson.

Gilbert has made the most of any player in the main draw, producing six centuries to date - three of which came in his quarter-final victory over Maguire.

Wilson is not too far behind his fellow Englishman with four centuries to his name, the most recent of which came in the penultimate frame of his clash with Higgins.

Only Judd Trump has recorded more centuries than Wilson on this season's tour, a remarkable feat when you consider he has not been at his best for much of the campaign, with his run in Sheffield being just the second time he has reached the semi-finals of a ranking event in 2023/24.

Couple the break-building ability of these two players along with this being a best-of-33 frame match and it would appear logical to expect plenty of centuries to be made, with six or more in the contest available to back at 6/5.
