51-year-old Andy Macdonald came out of retirement to qualify for the Olympics and the Team GB skateboarder is priced at 100/1 to win men's park gold in Paris.
By competing in the French capital, Macdonald will become the oldest skateboarder in Olympic history and is accompanied by Sky Brown and Lola Tambling in the Team GB squad.
They're extreme opposites on the age spectrum but American-born Macdonald, who is able to represent Great Britain due to his Luton-born father, is determined to “represent the old guys” and he says his qualification proves “age is just a number”.
Macdonald became a professional skateboarder in 1994 and has won eight X Games gold medals throughout his career, including a doubles title with the legendary Tony Hawk. He even had a video game based on his career, 'MTV Sports: Skateboarding featuring Andy Macdonald'.
The park competition is the final event on the skateboarding schedule at the Olympics and Paris' iconic Place de la Concorde will host 22 skaters vying for glory.
The event consists of skaters performing tricks in a bowl with ramps, bumps and pipes, with the more difficult stunts receiving a higher score.
Favourite for the men's park gold is Australia's Keegan Palmer, who claimed victory in the inaugural staging of the competition at Tokyo 2020 and is priced at 9/4.
He faces stern competition from the contingent of US skaters, including world champion Gavin Bottger (6/1), number one ranked Tate Carew (4/1) and the highly-rated prospect Tom Schaar (11/1).
Men's park prelims take place at 11:30 BST on Wednesday 7th August, with the final scheduled for 16:30 BST on the same day.
