Sir Gino ruled out of the Cheltenham Festival

Arkle contender Sir Gino has been ruled out of the Cheltenham Festival and the remainder of the National Hunt season through injury.

The Nicky Henderson-trained star produced a superb performance to comfortably beat Ballyburn and land the Wayward Lad Novices' Chase at Kempton Park back in December and he was heavily fancied to win at Prestbury Park next month.

But the five-year-old missed the Game Spirit Chase at Newbury last weekend after sustaining a small wound to the inside of his near hind leg and is now receiving hospital treatment after his situation has deteriorated.

The withdrawal means Majborough has been installed as the odds-on favourite to win the Arkle at the 2025 Cheltenham Festival.
