Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles is reportedly having his medical at Manchester City this afternoon.
Enzo Maresca's side are in the market for a new goalkeeper to challenge Gianluigi Donnarumma next season.
Second choice stopper James Trafford has been the subject of plenty of interest this summer and is likely to leave the club.
Trafford rejoined the Cityzens last summer from Burnley with the belief that he would be the club's number one goalkeeper.
However, Donnarumma's subsequent arrival meant that Trafford spent the majority of the season on the bench and he is now set to move on.
The deal to sign his potential replacement is now edging nearer after journalist Pete O'Rourke reported that a deal has been agreed and that a medical is now in progress.
Like the signing of Trafford last summer, the potential signing of Charles would see another goalkeeper move back to his roots.
Charles was part of the City academy setup before he opted to join Sheffield Wednesday as a 16-year-old in 2021.
Charles has made 36 appearances for the Owls, including 21 outings in all competitions last season.
He has also established himself as the number one for Northern Ireland and has already featured 12 times for his country.
Wednesday are looking to build a squad capable of challenging for League One promotion and an immediate return to the Championship next season.
Whilst the loss of Charles is a blow, the transfer fee, which is undisclosed for now, should allow them to reinvest in their squad.
