We analyse the credentials and statistics of Shannon Ryan and Emma Dolan as the pair get set to contest a British & Commonwealth super-flyweight title showdown on the undercard of Felix Cash v Tyler Denny on Saturday 22nd June.
Over the past few years women’s boxing has delivered many all-action battles on these shores, and on Saturday 22nd June, fight fans could be treated to another as Shannon Ryan and Emma Dolan battle it out for the British and Commonwealth super-flyweight titles.
The pair were originally scheduled to face off back in February, but an illness suffered by Dolan resulted in the bout being rescheduled.
Despite entering as the Commonwealth titlist, Dolan finds herself as the underdog against Ryan, who is signed to Anthony Joshua’s 258 management company.
It’s a battle of the unbeatens and someone’s “0” has to go, but who will prevail?
It's time to check out the 'Tale of the Tape'…

Despite being a novice in boxing, Shannon Ryan has already proven herself to be a combat sport polymath, having previously achieved success in kickboxing, before earning a place on Team GB through taekwondo.
Although she was an accomplished athlete, the 27-year-old still had to balance training and competing with working in a Watford branch of O2, but through the sweet science, her life has changed.
After a brief amateur career with Finchley ABC, ‘Kaos’ turned professional as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It did not take long for her talents to catch the eye of, former unified heavyweight world champion, Anthony Joshua, who signed her to his management company.
Since then, the Hertfordshire native has been able to focus on honing her craft full-time, while receiving a lucrative sponsorship deal from her employers.
So far, Ryan has repaid the faith shown in her with a series of dazzling performances - in fact, during her first five professional outings, she failed to lose a single round!
In February this year, she passed a significant test as she out-pointed Jasmina Zapotoczna, to capture a regional WBA belt.
The undefeated Pole stepped in at short-notice after Emma Dolan withdrew from the originally scheduled bout through illness.
Ryan looked comfortable in the first half of the fight, despite sustaining a cut to the forehead, however, the latter stages were fiercely contested with Ryan appearing fatigued.
For her backers, it is worth noting that she required two attempts to make the 115lbs divisional limit for the Zapotoczna fight, and if she is tight at the weight, it's possible that Ryan could fade in the closing stages of her upcoming showdown, especially if Dolan can force the pace.
Ryan has expressed her desire to become undisputed world champion within five years, but if she is to do so, then she will need to prove she is a level, or two, above her rival.

Hand-speed | Open to straight punches |

Foot-speed | Struggles to make weight |
While Shannon Ryan is a late convert to boxing, Emma Dolan first laced up the gloves at the age of nine.
She achieved considerable success during her time in the amateur ranks too, amassing 39 victories in 49 contests.
Dolan has made a seamless transition to the professional game, winning her six fights to date and becoming the inaugural Commonwealth super-flyweight champion in the process.
The Norwich woman demonstrated her commitment to the sport by relocating from Norfolk to Newark, to link-up with, trainer and manager, Carl Greaves.
Under Greaves tutelage, the 26-year-old captured her belt against Halima Vunjabei, before successfully defending it against Nicola Hopewell.
Dolan has the opportunity to add the British title to her collection with victory over Ryan, but will have to overcome the odds to do so.
However, there are reasons for Dolan backers to be optimistic, she is tall for the weight, utilises her reach advantage effectively and sets a high tempo she can maintain over the course of ten rounds.
The biggest concern is that she fights upright, in a style more suited to the amateur sport, which leaves her open to power shots.
This fight is likely to be more competitive than the odds suggest, and the underdog has the opportunity to spring a shock result.
Strengths: | Weaknesses: |
Straight punches | Stands too tall |
Combinations | Leaves chin in the air |
Utilises her reach | Moves back in straight lines |
