Returning to the scene of his greatest moment is Shane Lowry who is looking to win the Open for a second time.
It was at Royal Portrush in 2019 where Lowry shot to prominence on the world stage when he held the Claret Jug aloft in his native Northern Ireland.
Victory still remains Lowry's crowning moment in the sport - but he returns six years later as a more polished player with four additional major championship top-10s to his name.
Lowry has also notched two wins since his Open triumph, beating Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm in the BMW PGA Championship before teaming up with the former to score in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in 2024.
In preparation for his repeat bid, Lowry has been able to get a glimpse of the course that hosted his major win.
The 38-year-old posted on his X account: "Little trip to Portrush to check it out before [The Open]. Course is looking great and everything ready for a big week."
Lowry has enjoyed four top-10s on the PGA Tour this season - including fine efforts in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Truist Championship where he finished as runner-up.
