Crowned Italian champions for the first time in 33 years under Luciano Spalletti in 2022/23, Napoli endured a dismal defence of their title last term - languishing to a 10th-placed finish in Serie A.

Napoli failed to secure qualification for any form of European football for the new season, with Simone Inzaghi's Inter emerging as the dominant force in Italy's top flight in 2023/24 - losing just two Serie A matches to finish 19 points clear of rivals Milan in second.

With the inspirational Spalletti departing the club at the end of Napoli's Scudetto-winning season, the club toiled in their attempts to replace him - with Gli Azzurri employing three managers over the course of 2023/24 - Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri and Francesco Calzona.

Napoli have now moved to install Antonio Conte as their new permanent manager, with the high-profile ex-Juventus, Chelsea and Inter boss charged with reviving the club's fortunes following such a disappointing season.

There is a lot of uncertainty regarding star duo Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's futures at the club, but with Conte reportedly set to be backed by a sizeable budget for new signings this summer, Napoli should be confident of an improved season in 2024/25.

A four-time Serie A winner in his managerial career to date across spells with Juventus and Inter, Conte will be striving to become the first man ever to lead three different clubs to the Scudetto during his tenure at Napoli.
